If this is Writer's Literary Children's Agency, RUN. It's part of an umbrella corp. and I believe it is currently under investigation by the Florida AG. Writer's Literary Agency has its own section here in the B&BC forum.

There's an entire subforum devoted to them.

Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction!

Edit: I believe this is the thread devoted to this specific arm of Fletcher's entities.

I'm sure a mod will whisk this to the proper place (fasten your seat belts!), but in the meantime, here's a link to the thread.

These folks get a whole section on the PAMB - not to mention that they are currently under investigation by the Florida Attorney General's office.

But don't take my word for it. Read, follow the links, and see for yourself.

Hi Mistyag1! Welcome to the forums, post in the Newbie section etc etc. :D

WL Children's Books Agency? That sounds suspiciously like "WL Children's Agency" and "WL Children's Literary Agency", both of which are run by Robert Fletcher, which is not someone you want to work with.
If so, you really need to read the sub-forum called "Writers Literary Agency/AEG Publishing Group/Strategic Book Publishing/Eloquent Books". Really, really need to.

Edit: damn, you people need to go to bed or something!!! Look at the time stamps :D

i read through that contract on that thread and it doesn't sound right but then again it is a few years old but it wouldn't have changed much.

i may take a look at the contract then decide whether it sounds better or not.

though i will consider everybody's input about the company.

Please listen to the people here, Misty.

If this is the same company, then THEY HAVE NO MEANS OF GETTING YOUR BOOK COMMERCIAL PUBLICATION. If you give them your book, it's dead. It's not a writing credit you can claim with any legit agency or publisher in the industry.

It's not the company's contract; it's their actions.

Seriously. RUN THE OTHER WAY.

Spend your energy on real publishers and agencies who aren't being investigated by the local authorities.

Just send a letter saying you're withdrawing your story for consideration. You haven't signed anything yet and therefore are not obligated to them for anything.

Misty, you might want to search through the Bewares and Background Checks section here for the other agent, just in case there's anything worrying about him. It's well worth it.

Simon Lipskar is a very legit and successful agent. You will be in excellent hands if he takes you on. While you are waiting for his response continue sending out queries. All the agents at Agentquery.com are legit
