I have no writing experience, other than my blog but my blog is just a series of posts that are a little on the weird side..basically my thoughts.
However I recently had an idea that I was hoping to pitch to a local magazine, and I was wondering if someone could offer some help on how I would go about doing that?
Any help would be appreciated :)

I would suggest coming up with a very good idea to query and/or writing something on spec--that way the work sells itself.

First, make sure it's something that would interest the readers of the magazine. Next, find out the name of the appropriate editor. Then, write a query letter that clearly describes your idea and what qualifies you to write it.

Many magazines won't take queries from first time authors. you may need to write the article first and submit it. You'll have to look up guidelines for the publication to know which is best in your case.
