Well, this is me trying to take my writing seriously now. I've always loved writing, well any type of art really, but I'm not getting any younger, and I think I'm pretty decent at it. I had one college professor (geez, that was a while ago now) ask me why I wasn't published already. So, I must have some talent.

I've lurked on the forum for awhile over the years as the writing bug hits me. I've read a lot here and everywhere I find interesting writing tidbits. I've read a lot of the various faqs offered, but it's just time I stop dawdling and lurking and put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard); and of course hopefully publish.

My goal is self-publishing. I'm definitely not opposed to traditional publishing, but it seems the book world has just exploded with possibilities thanks to the internet, and here I am hoping its got some room for me to share my stories.

I've read and reread Outlining Your Novel by K.M. Weiland in hopes that it could help me get past my pantsing style of writing. I love pantsing. I do. But my habit is to go maybe 50,000 words then hit a brick wall. I'm thinking outlining might be the trick. Well let's hope. I'm also looking into getting the new version of Let's Get Digital that's coming out soon as well as Write. Publish. Repeat. as I've recently started listening to the Self Publishing Podcast. Kooky guys. I like 'em.

Anywho ... that's me. I know as a forum (especially one as successful as this is) that the latest information on the continual flux of self-publishing can be found here ... just got to search. What's the best way to get the absolute latest information and news on what's going on in the writing world? I mean, between here and Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Hatchette, and all of the stuff in between, it's quite literally overwhelming to try to find out what the latest deal is, or actually more to the point, what the deal is not since everything seems to be constantly changing.

Whoa! I've already written a book. Alright. Greetings all!

Welcome to the watercooler. Stop by the Pub for a drink and some cookies. There was cake. But I may have eaten all of it. :welcome:

Welcome! :welcome: I also agree that an outlining might prevent a brick wall. I often have that issue too but this time around the outline really seems to be doing the trick!
