Hi,

I have been thinking about this question for quite some time.

Why post in aw chapbook when you can get feedback from poetry critique?

Regards,

jaus

they are trading stamps issued based on the quality and frequency of chapbook posts. you then compile them in booklets and can redeem them for products like toasters and sewing machines. if you are patient and prolific, you can accumulate enough for a rowboat or to hire an assassin.

How will I get them? Will they go in my reps(user cp)? How do I know how many green stamps I have?

they should be spat out at the register upon completing your post. the clerk will tear them off and hand them to you. i believe you have to ask for the booklets.

the catalogs are updated annually, mostly to avoid the lingering presence of passe avacado-green electric coffee pots and what-not.

They're kidding.

The Chapbook is for posting poems that you do not want feedback/critting on.

Please read the link that jvc posted.

From my perspective, if someone is posting multiple poems a day, with no intention of using the critiques to make improvements to the work (workshopping the poems), then chapbook might be a good option, allowing other poetscwho need feedback for improvement to have page time, and to free them up to only crit those poems that need/want comments for improvement.
Likewise, the main poetry forum page can be used for comment only feedback (not workshop/crit) for improvement) . The difference between the chapbook and the main page is password protection so the poems can be published with first rights.

Excellent advice.

Another 8 years of stamp collecting, i might have enough to buy a clue, too. And a Zippo. I really want the Zippo.

Even the forum of AW Chapbook requires a password, it says, 'citrus'

I had read the link after the first post.

Thanks, Medievalist. How many stamps do I need to buy a missile launcher?

Yes, chapbook allows you to post under password protection. That was my point. The main page does not.

Not going to lock the thread; I believe it may be useful for others, and the discussion is a good one to have from time to time.

for all those keeping score at home:

want to protect a poem for publication and get feedback: post in critique

want to protect a poem for publication but not interested in having it critiqued: post in chapbook

want to spice up a grilled-cheese sandwich: try adding a slice of pepper-jack

I'm all for discussion and opinions.

It's a good conversation. Someone might want to chime in.

Some people, my self included, don't like to critique other people's poems, so they (I) don't feel it would be right to expect others to critique their's (mine,) hence the Chapbook.

easy, big fella.

by the time these mods complete the undergrad requirements, the graduate school, the thesis and internship - not to mention the largely food-based hazing to get the gig, they're not real keen on being told how to do their jobs.

it seems so obvious, but the interplay between the creaminess of the american cheese and the bite of the pepper-jack really does spruce up a lunch quite nicely.

then don't give it a sarcastic turn by talking about stamps, little fella. at least not until the question is answered. I had asked a genuine question

Steady on.

Relax.

Back on topic, CDSinex makes a good point.
Consider, is it fair/appropriate/reasonable to expect a crit when such effort isn't reciprocated? Is it fair/appropriate/reasonable to use people's generous crit time if you won't use the crit to improve the work?

No. So if either apply, then use chapbook (if you want password protection or main page if you don't.
