So what's for dinner?

Ugali with bean sauce.

- Kidney beans if they're available (butter beans if not)
- Couple of cloves of garlic, chopped
- Half a tiny tin of concentrated tomato paste
- Plenty of black pepper and a dash of ginger
- Fist full of peanut powder towards the end, to thicken it

At home, always cassava ugali as maize stinks the house out.

Oooh...naan! How do you bake it if you don't have a tandoori oven?

Minestrone soup from the freezer and cold boiled shrimp with lemon and cocktail sauce.

Beef, beer, and barley stew. Includes beets and horseradish too, so it should be interesting. I was looking for a freezer beef stew recipe that didn't include potatoes because they just taste weird after freezing. I had four pounds of stew meat in the freezer and defrosted it. So now I'm wondering if I should just make one batch first (it calls for one pound of beef) or do my usual mega-batch and suffer through it if it tastes horrible. Mega-batch, I think. Living on the edge, baby.

Going to a local charitable fundraiser. Have to settle for "hors d'oeuvres" -- sort of like having snacks for dinner. Oh, well, it's for a good cause.

I did it in a hot cast iron skillet. It got a great char and was delish!

I made a makeshift chicken stew with mushrooms, tomatoes, thyme, onion, garlic, carrots and celery, served over basmati rice.

Yeah, it's prolly time for Baby to return and the toe to go away. At least in the dining room.

I went to MyBurger, my favorite burger place in the history of everything evarz, and had their fish sandwich. Nothing Lenten, just wanted a fish sandwich for dinner and changed my mind about going to Burger King.

That, and nobody beats MyBurger's fries.

It was the first time I had the fish sandwich, so I'm doubly thankful I didn't find capers in the tartar sauce. Capers. Why does it ever have to be capers?

Lamb Tagine

Stouffer's frozen three cheese ravioli with meat sauce, plus frozen carrots and frozen lima beans, each cooked with a chicken bouillon cube. Easy peasy!

Broiled boneless pork ribs marinated in hoisin, peanut butter, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger, chili-garlic paste & sesame oil.

We went out to eat, but I did make black bean brownies for dessert. Seriously yummy!
