I didn't even know there was a British-style bacon. I thought there was real American bacon and then Canadian bacon, which is just thin sliced ham. :Dhttp://absolutewrite.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Hop on a plane, now. You're missing out.

If you're too busy, searching around might find you some smoked back bacon (or unsmoked, if you must)--I've found it from time to time but can't remember where. Whole Foods, maybe? Then broil it up, throw it on a soft roll (not hamburger bun, but that size) and drizzle with HP sauce.

Mmmmmm.

Explanation of the difference here.

Hiding in this box I made.
Absolutely crispy, but not burnt. I can handle chewy too, but prefer the crispy to chewy ratio to be quite high.

And a Jersey high-five for pork roll.

The properest way is to cook the bacon on the lowest heat to render all the fat out, which usually leaves it a little chewy inside but perfectly fried outside. The low heat is especially vital for bacon steaks, but will elevate even the meanest bacon to tasty heights.

Now the problem with this is that it takes ages and you can just smell it but not touch... torment.

I love bacon. I have to go chewy all the way. Some places I've been to, they way overcook their bacon. And then it just tastes horrible. Bacon rocks!

When I was little, my mother called it 'crozzly' (crispy)

glad to get the slow cook pro tip.

She would also fry bread in the bacon fat.

And batter Spam and fry that in bacon fat.

The only bacon my mother-in-law will eat is Oscar Meyer's. All other types, she will turn her nose up at, including any artisanals.

Chewy bacon? How can this be good? Reminds me of an episode of Coach (American sitcom). Luthor, defensive coach for the team, noted as a kid, he ate bacon almost completely raw. Not chewy, but close enough.

Bacon Jam. O.M.G. It'll never supplant chocolate as my favoritest food necessity, but it's a close run. just sayin'

Question: are there any British people here? Do you cook your kind of bacon so it's crispy, or do you leave it all meaty? If you crisp it, how? There's not enough fat to treat it like American bacon, so I'm not sure what the right treatment is.
