Hi, everyone. Newbie here to the cooler. I just self-published my first fiction novel, which will be available for sale next week. I thought I would share my blog with you regarding my journey and struggles on writing. I will check back in the future, as I am writing my sequel too and still consider myself a work in progress ... though in print.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn? If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. Good luck.

Welcome to the Cooler, Vicki. Self publishing in itself is not a bad thing, as long as you know how to market your product. Good luck!

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler
![]() A must read thread is the newbie guide, which is in a sticky thread at the top of the Newbie Forum. Also check out Cathy_C's thread, which is also stickied at the top of the Newbie forum, Next on our tour, if you'll look to the left, you'll notice... to find out about the various buttons and icons, and also about rep points, how to PM (private message) members, custom avatars and a whole host of other useful stuff, If you have any problems you can PM (private message) me and I'll see if I can help, or you can post in the Super-Dooper Newbie 'Ask the Mod' thread at the top of the newbie forum. And for fun, we have the terrific Newbie Question of the Day thread. Pop in and have a go at answering a few of the really easy questions (the link is in the sig line below). They are easy. Yep, they are. And so much fun. Oh, and do you like double choc-chip cookies?

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll share my popcorn.
As far as self-publishing, actually this is my second self-published work through Xlibris. I first published a very popular blog I've had for over two years now into book form because fans were asking me. It was released in May 2009. I'm actively involved in the pros and cons of self-publishing in a lot of forums and in my own blogs. Frankly I'm 80% for self-pubs and 20% for the other way. Someone is going to have to convince me of the pros of the traditional route, except for receiving a stamp of approval that I'm not vain. Marketing isn't an issue for me, as I had my own business for over 7 years and know the ropes of doing a lot of it myself. I do, however, have my toe stuck in the water for the traditional route, and The Price of Innocence full manuscript is in the hands of a traditional publishing house as I type this. Now I must wait 4-6 months for a reply??? Eventually, my story will turn into three books. If I sell them fine, if I don't I'm happy to keep my own creative work and prove a point. I have full rights, and I'm not about to sign it over without being convinced it really is to my benefit to do so. Gee, thanks for all the nice comments. No doubt I'll be back bemoaning my journey of writing the two sequels. |

Welcome! I just looked at your site. I can tell you put a lot of effort into your self-publishing. Everything looks great and your story sounds interesting. Fingers crossed for you!
