There is a Panorama of the Thames project online. They have a panorama from 1829 on the site and photos from the same sites in 2014 to compare them to. They're planning on adding earlier periods later.

That is cool! It's so interesting to compare city skylines from different time periods and see how and what things have changed.

I recently found a drawing of the view of Manhattan from Brooklyn in 1849. Looks way different from the way it does today, and shows you how important churches and ships were to early New York. The drawing is in the possession of the New York Public Library, but you can view it at this link: https://ephemeralnewyork.wordpress.com/2010/08/.

Yeah its nuts. When the Brooklyn Bridge was built it towered over the city. Now it looks tiny compared to the city.
