Izz!
Spent most of my working session yesterday on the homepage of the Metropolitan Police, plus various articles on police work. (Don't want to take it from detective shows on TV, who knows how accurate or not they are!) I don't write a mystery/police novel (more fantasy/magical realism), but at this point the characters must interact with the police to keep that realistic feeling I'm going for. Which means I must get it right - or at least
plausible. (Since I am stupid enough to write in English although my native language is Norwegian, finding the right, plausible words for the more 'special' situations is sometimes a problem.)
Don't get me wrong, research can be fun - but this is not a topic that interests me all that much. Today I must find a way to make the police interaction work smoothly within the story. Will try to make it short, may not even use anything of all the info I dug up yesterday - but at least I will feel more confident about what I write! (I hope)
Know it won't be all that motivating, but it needs to be done. And I did put in a good three hours work yesterday.
So - being a little strict with myself may work fine!
@ Siri Kirpal:
Oh, 33 small chapters still to go! I thought you were nearly there... Sounds like you have the outline ready and know what you're doing, though. Good luck to you!
@ soapdish
Good luck with better days to come! Like bettielee said - we all have those days. Here's hoping for continuous snow storms where you are, if that will make your work easier!
@ bettielee
Whoohoo for the first draft of the Vampire Baron!!!!
@ JenniferB
Character interview - sounds interesting! Is it a set template used for your blog chain? Same as bettielee uses? Might check that out
@ alessahinlo
Yay for the 10,000 word mark!
