Hi fellow Xavier! I wonder if we'll get to the point of coming up in each other's search results, heh.

Hi fellow Xavier! I wonder if we'll get to the point of coming up in each other's search results, heh.

I don't know that I've gone Googling myself as such, yet. I have seen some pretty weird titles come up in book searches on Amazon and other sites when I've been trying to find what has happened to my book listings.

I can't say I've seen anything of yours come up, yet, but I will be looking from now on.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've written several erotica stories but haven't published anything yet. I love writing paranormal erotica... don't know, with paranormal, my mind gets wild with ideas. lol.

Hi there everyone. My daughters think I write smut, and should target my fantasy novels for the erotic market. I think all the sex and BDSM is necessary to the story line and is not in any way gratuitous. I suspect my stories don't have enough sex in them for the erotic market. How much of the writing in an erotic novel should be bump and grind etc and how much plot, characters, description and other in between writing? Sort of lurking a little bit, but really not shy!

Welcome to AW... just for food for thought, my experience is that there is a market for all heat levels of erotic genre fiction. Myself, I do all right in the medium level heat and generally vanilla erotic romance. I would never be accused of being overly kinky or risque in that sub genre and I know authors who do much better than I in lesser and hotter heat levels. Anywho... don't discourage because of heat level.

In a bunker, lobbing grenades at the plot bunnies.
Hi, Marina, Brindle is right. Readers will pick up on sex that's introduced just so that there's sex and they don't appreciate. You have to treat ex like anything else in a book--it either needs to inform character, advance plot or add to setting. I'm trying to imagine how it could work with the last one...

In The Specialist, there were a couple of places where I went back and added sex scenes, but for each one I foun d a reason to have it there. Both had to do with character development. So I'd say if you choose to add one, decide what you want to tell the reader with it besides just the sex itself.

articshark,Brindle Chase, Mike Sanchez, Filigree, Aussieerotica and Old Brasscat Thank you for your welcomes and advice. Apologies if I missed anyone or miss spelt your monicker. So having delurked and admitted my shame of possibly not being erotic enough, where do I move on from here? I'm looking long term for a unshockable beta reader/ writing pal to whom I am happy to proof read and support with their writing.

Alright, I'll do it! :flag: I have to give in.

So...I'm...delurking.

I read plenty of erotic romances, I admit. Then again, most of the m/m romances (and most of the recommended ones) are erotic-ish, so yeah, heh. (I prefer my m/f books to be mostly sweet-ish, though.)

I just love romances. :LilLove:

And I know I'll definitely ask questions and look for advice/resources here, since my nagging m/m WIP is kind of getting... sensual. It felt right, though, since my MC is from an alien/human hybrid culture that is big on the lovin'. Problem is, he's more about emotions and *gasp* flowery language, though, lol.

Didn't even realize this group was here until I saw reference to it in the Romance forum.
Great topics, interesting questions and answers.
Was going to post in some threads but then realized how old they were and did not want to necro post jic they were too old.

Anyway, hello and this is great reading. Lots to think about now. :)
