Commiserations for the recent rejections, everyone! I should be getting a new wave of Rs any day now...

5-day personal second round rejection from UFO. All things considered, I'm just glad it went over as well as it did.

Very nice 13 day R from Safety Pin Review. Damn, but I really want to crack that market; most awesome idea ever.

In the meantime, anyone know other good markets for a 30-word story that's too long for twitter?

How is it possible that all of Narrative's rejections fall between 36 and 38 days?

They're probably reading approximately the same about of stories per day as are coming in, and are 36-38 days behind. This is not unusual. Almost all of IGMS round 1 rejections come in at around 32-33 days.

Rejections from Carina Press on both the NA Steampunk Novel and the SF Western Novella. Included about a paragraph of personal feedback with each and she encouraged me to send more work her way.

So, not a complete disappointment. (Just a little rough getting them both at the same time.)

Aggy, still working on thick skin

Sorry about the disappointing news, Aggy. Hope you feel encouraged to have gotten so far and it bodes well for future markets!

Groan!

Sorry for the R's everyone, esp the novels Aggy, and the break in your winning streak, Marzioli. You're pretty good at those winning streaks though!

Am expecting more R's for myself any day now.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to receive one of these:
Quote:
Chris,

Thank you for submitting your story, "The Wanderer", to Daily Science Fiction. Unfortunately, we have decided not to publish it. To date, we have reviewed many strong stories that we did not take. Either the fit was wrong or we'd just taken tales with a similar theme or any of a half dozen other reasons.

Best success selling this story elsewhere.
Love their daily stories, though. This is one of my top submission destinations.

Yeah, that's their standard form. Only, when they send it to me, there's nothing about Chris or "The Wanderer."

This morning I opened an email expecting that it would be a very fast R only to find it was just acknowledging receipt of a story. Maybe I'm getting a little too expectant of Rs!

I got my first personal rejection from Strange Horizons. I feel that's a bit of a win.
