The new clause — seen by the Associated Press — requires the host city and national Olympic committee to "conduct all activities in a manner which promotes and enhances the fundamental principles and values of Olympism, in particular the prohibition of any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise, as well as the development of the Olympic Movement." ... All Out is also urging the IOC to amend Principle 6 to specifically prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or identity.
The new Principle 6 clause says the Olympics should be free of discrimination “of any kind, such as race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”
“This is a pivotal moment for equality in sport,” said Andre Banks, executive director and co-founder of internal [sic] gay rights group All Out.
