Yeah, I remember both those songs. I used to really like Men At Work, too. I remember the whole country was wondering what the hell Vegemite was.

I love vegemite.

Really need to order some....

Oddly enough, never had it.

I cannot remember how I got a jar of it, though I think one of my dorm mates had an Australian roommate and one thing led to another.

It's odd, kind of oniony, to me, and somewhat dark and a little smoky if I remember correctly. And delicious. Especially on some good dark bread.

I'll pick some up the next time I'm at a decent store. I've seen it in plenty of places. Marmite is the same thing, isnt' it?

I have heard they are similar, but I don't think they are quite exactly the same. Though being neither Australian, nor British, I could be wrong.

I should know this stuff. I'm a snobbish foodie.

Well, yeah, but foreign equivalents of nutella are kind of hard to pin down for anyone.

My Google-fu tells me Vegemite is the same, only slightly saltier. (Slightly.) Neither of them are AT ALL even a little bit like Nutella. If that's what you're setting your mouth up for, you are in for a very big surprise and not the good kind.

Actually, I've never had nutella, though I understand it's hazelnuts.

But it's dark, and spreadable, and apparently addictive, and I figured that was close enough.

Yes, it's all those things, and sweet. Marmite/vegemite are more like sardine-jelly. So if hazelnut tastes like sardines, then I guess, sort of, but not really.

It is not sardine jelly.




Though I am sure such a thing exists, somewhere.
