My wife should watch out...everyone makes divorce sound so exciting...

Wish you well, Jenna!

Good luck Jenna, I wish you and Sarina the best. And please, embrace the fresh start.

I got the house in the divorce...and I can't afford it but I can't sell it. For one, my parents moved 40 miles and built to be next to me...the houses are on adjacent property. Two, the housing market sucks...I'd never be able to sell it for what I owe. I had to borrow $40 from my mom yesterday to get gas...I have $30 in my bank account and my car payment will be late this month. It's much better to move to something with no memories and that doesn't strap you money wise.

Hang in there, Jenna!! You'll find somewhere great to live that will be ALL yours. Personally, I love living in a condo, and think you will too

Jenna condos are awesome. Some of my happiest memories are when I lived in a condo. So yeah I was in middle school but they still count.

Just do what my dad with me and my brother when he was single. He would have us go over to some lady that he thought was attractive and had us say hello to her. Of course he was right there but he said we were good ice breakers and he could find out right away if she liked kids or not by her reaction.

This thread just made me laugh and feel strong and squished with much love. Thank you!

And...

I LOVED the condo! It has a home office set up next to a playroom, everything looks new, high ceilings in the bedrooms... just really nicely done.

We'll see what happens next. Sarina particularly liked their refrigerator magnets. I think the owners would have to toss them in to sweeten the deal.

P.S. The coolest part of this thread for me is that you guys actually remember my stinky couch, the rodent in my wall, and how I wrote about what this house means to me before I was married. Can one get nostalgic about mildew and rodents? *hugs*

Well, I'd just like to say that if you had taken my thoughtful advice on your rodent problem, using high explosives, then this whole situation wouldn't even exist.

Of course, neither would the house.

Seemed like good advice at the time. In hindsight, seems even better.

Of course, you could re-locate to Vegas. I take care of foreclosure properties here. One of my favorites has an incredible view, has about 7000 ft2 on about a half acre, sold originally for 1.2 million.

It sold today for $450,000. So much for my home value. Heck, my whole lot, house and all would cover about a quarter of their back yard, and we paid 420 grand.

If you like, I could send you some listing sheets and tell you the real asking price.

Ooh! It sounds from your post like you've found a great place to live. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed that you get it or something better.

As for the house: Having moved a few times, including moving away from the house I grew up in and having to sell our place in the country that I brought two babies home to, I know that it'll hurt for a while. But in the end, it's only a place, and as the new home gains memories, the pain will fade and the joy will grow. You're taking the most important memory maker with you in the person of Sarina, so I know this will be true.

As for clogging the toilets and leaving dead rodents in the walls: I know the advice is all in fun, but I've come to learn the hard way that revenge keeps you locked in the past. Leave the house in good condition, and look forward! Get your revenge by showing Anthony that you've got a purpose to your life besides him. Come to think of it, that will probably be worse for him than a clogged toilet, and it'll last longer.

Well, you will get a LOT more writing done now.
From my own personal experience, I will say this...I got divorced 2 years ago, and thought it was going to be 'fun' being single again. LOL. It's not. I'd just as soon skip the dating and get married again.
Because, immediately after the divorce, I went into a depression. Luckily, I turned to writing, my WIP took off like a rocket, and the writing is what really 'saved' me from total ruin. During that 2 years I also experienced a bankruptcy, some health problems, and the death of a very much loved family pet.

So, you will have some ups and downs, it's only natural, but, I say, WRITE through them.

There's no better therapy than creating your own personal little universe to play God with. (also, it helps to name some characters close to the real 'bad guys' in your real life, just to give them their deserved comeuppance)

Good luck.

I second this!

Living well (sometimes just living) is the best revenge.

You and Sarina will shine.

But... but... rodents and rotten food are fun!

MichaelDeVere has a spectacular aura
I can help you with the kid thing.

Seriously. Hang tough and be a good mom. This means even though you've got a lot of undiscovered freedom, not inviting drama and other nonsensical crap into your world. Kids are sponges for negative energy.

My sister is going through a similar thing after 15 years of marriage. She found the cell phone bill, which sort of unwound his little schemes. He left her with my 13 yo nephew, whose idea of daddy is a guy who cheats on mommy.

Now she's on her own, new place, and already involved in another relationship. I know she's exploring her freedom, but she's already got her head in the clouds and is neglecting the boy. I am playing daddy. Not that I mind, because I love him and realize that he needs the stability.

Good luck Jenna.

It takes a village....to raise a child.
Sometimes it takes less...just one good family member.
Hang in there, teach your nephew that not all men/women are bad.

And to Jenna, Strength sometimes comes from unexpected places...Keep on, keeping on!!!
