Well, it's changed over the years.

Here's a breakdown of the price-per-gallon in Kentucky, circa 1930's:

Here's a breakdown of the dollar, 2006:

Here's another dollar-chart, 2007

And a dollar-chart as of two days ago:

None of the modern charts indicate how much of that dollar is the gas company's profit. Interesting.

If Colbert is right, if Exxon-Mobil is a not-for-profit agency, maybe they should hold classes so that other charities can work their magic when it comes to making dollars grow! Did he say they made $1,300.00 per second? I'd be jumping for joy if I made that much money in a week, a month even.

Bart ... did you watch the video I linked?

(The video is the punchline to my entire OP.)

.

I can't watch video until late night. (Shared-space issue)

...and having watched it now, I see my post is somewhat redundant. :p

I've been working towards going "car-less." I live in a place where every one insists you can't get by without a car, but in fact you can if you can get a job on or near a bus line when the buses run. The way I've figured it, I can live on about 300 dollars less if I don't have a car. I have a bike, and can walk for errands during most of the year.

I applaud countries that kept federal ownership of natural resources. It would change the price we paid for gas, and I imagine the way we dealt with OPEC and oilers.
