I savored this book. I didn't want to read it too fast because I didn't want it to end. I'd read a chapter and put it down to let it sink in. I loved her style of writing. Fall on Your Knees is also good.
Hmm. It was recommended to me by a dear reading friend. If she hadn't told me to keep on reading I would have dropped it fairly early on. Pages of tedious description, and I found the child abuse angle rather heavy-handed. The spy plot also seemed tacked on for no reason. Some beautiful moments of writing though.
On the whole I enjoyed, but I wouldn't add it to my pile of "must read over and over until the cover falls off" pile of books.
