What the hell is your thread title from? My dad says this all the time and I thought he was just being...my dad.

then again, I've learned over time that most of his weird phrases are song lyrics, movie lines, etc.

Hollywood has been seriously lacking on movies featuring primates lately. What will our political candidates pledge to do about this dilemma?

He wouldn't say, "Go to bed," or, "Good night, sleep tight."

Always, and I mean ALWAYS, he'd say, "Hit the hay."

I heard it thousands of times, and never once did we live close to a barn or near a hay stack.

And you know what's really weird? When I tell my children to "Hit the hay," they know exactly what I mean every time and go straight to bed.
