I just found this forum, and I am glad I did....just hope that I have found it in time...
I have been helping an author transcribe her book of pems to MS Word.
She is self-publishing, and doing her own marketing to a number of people who she has met throughout her life.
I have been reading the forums, but there is such a breadth of information that I don't think I will get the answers in time...
She is bringing some sample PDF files to a printer on Tuesday, to discuss the format and paper etc of the print job.
I have been preparing the Word files into PDF.
We have the ISBN and we are planning to fill out the docs for copyright filing.
She is paying for all the publishing, and she doesn't want an agent or publishing house to offer her....she wants total control over the process.
The first question that I have is this:
Setting aside financial concerns for the moment, speaking only about self-publishing, is there any risk that she should know about before proceeding with the printer on Tuesday?

One last thought, I have seen one or two mention "prior publishing"....I don't know what that means...but if you could enlighten me, I would be grateful!
