Anybody here have stories on AnthologyBuilder?

I ask for two reasons. First, I'm curious to see what sort of experiances people may have had so far with this market.

And second, if there are a lot of people from Absolute Write who have stories on AnthologyBuilder, I was thinking of making an anthology of just their stories. Sound interesting?

I'd never heard of this site before. I went and checked it out, and it looks pretty cool. I may just have to submit some stories there.

It looks like an interesting place for a story to reside after it has made the rounds through the paying markets.

The contract looks very straightforward, and this was the clause of most interest to me:

"The Author may remove the Work from the AnthologyBuilder database at any time."

It looks like you really do retain all of your rights and control, so, should you ever need to make your work exclusive, you can do so with ease.

I'd be curious to hear whether the pay is on-par with other anthologies. Alas, I have no direct knowledge of such matters.

Most anthologies pay a pro-rata share of royalties. Some include advances, others do not. A professional paying anthology will give you .05 cents a word (or higher), semi-pro is usually below that. If they pay you per word, you don't always get royalties. It depends on the anthology.

So, there is no real answer to your question. Sorry. @=/

Well, the cap is 50,000 words, so if you just try to write short you should make it...I hope...(I have the opposite problem, trying to get stories to novel length, so I might not understand your delimma. But good luck anyway!)

Five authors so far, 84 pages of stories. Definitly room for more. AW people who don't have stories on AnthologyBuilder, add some now!

I've only been selling stories since January 2009. I do have some that have now reverted back to me (the rights), however. Do you know if anyone has made any money from AnthologyBuilder?

I've read posts from a couple of people online who have used AnthologyBuilder to create custom anthologies, and they were positive about their experiences with the site and happy with the end products.

I'd love to see an AW anthology. Do you think that it could be something that could be linked to the boards, so that it could help financially support them? Maybe there could be annual volumes, or volumes that combine fiction, poetry and essays, if that's possible.

Robert E. Keller--I've made about .25 cents of Anthology Builder in a month--but then, my stories are pretty short and I'm not very well known. Bigger-name writers or ones with longer stories might see more success. It's not a way to get rich, but it does get your name out (authors get a biography page).

ElaraSophia--An AW anthology that could support the boards would have to be oraganized in a different way. The royalties from the AnthoBuilder anthology would only go to the authors wo are in it. That said, I do think it's an awesome idea--I just wouldn't be the one to make it.

Thanks for the tip. In light of what you said, I won't quit my day job just yet, but I think I'll submit something and see what gives.
