September Blog Chain
You know it was going to happen! Three days early, but the last one got so much attention that by the time it really started - it was too late to finish in one month. So how about we start three days early, start on the 10th or if we get 'enough' people to start.
'Enough' people, I'll place at on or around 15. At which point we can just add people to end of the list as they show up, with the blog chain already going. What will the subject be? Each person gives the next person 3 things: 1. a name (of a character) 2. an action verb (eating, drinking etc) 3. a noun (knife, bag etc) Keep it quite standard so that people from different backgrounds can understand, and then each person writes either a scene or a flash fiction - whatever they want, which must include those 3 words. Who wants to be involved? List: Fokker Aeroplanbau Forbidden Snowflake RavenCorinnCarluk Lostwanderer5 LilliCray Aimeelaine Claire Crossdale bsolah Angyl78 FreshHell Lady Cat ealexis Crayonz Razibahmed Proach Tara McClendon MGraybosch shethinkstoomuch Notes: 'August Rule' is in effect. If you do not post within two days of what is classically considered 'your turn,' you will be skipped. You all know the drill.

I'm in.
Also, I have a suggestion, how about at some point it's about a writing exercise? Like having to write a piece about a certain subject.

Certainly, July's blogchain was something about that or one of the later months.
It sounds like a good general idea, but what exactly would be the subject? That's where we always get tripped up on.

I'm definitely in for September.
Tossing out an idea (even though it's a little lame): how about we do one of those story mash things, where the next person in the chain adds a chapter to the story? Give a minimum word count, maybe set some guidelines for violence/profanity/sex (maybe), and go at it.

If you want to go with writing exercise - how about this?
Each person gives the next person 3 things: 1. a name (of a character) 2. an action verb (eating, drinking etc) 3. a noun (knife, bag etc) Keep it quite standard so that people from different backgrounds can understand, and then each person writes either a scene or a flash fiction - whatever they want, which must include those 3 words. That will keep each person involved, and create a random creative exercise for each blogger.

@RavenCorinnCarluk: Problem is that the readers of each blog would have to go through the whole chain to read through the story, not everyone likes that?

Added people to the blogroll.
No preference for the topic, really. I like to consider myself a versatile writer.

Forbidden: you're right. Hadn't quite thought about it that way.
But I like lostwanderer's suggestion. I've decided I want to second that idea.

And thanks to everyone who has seconded my idea. If we all agree, it will be quite fun.

Oooh... I'd like to join, too! Lostwanderer's idea is fantastic, and I cast my vote in favor of it. But whatever the topic turns out to be, I'm fine with it. Last month's chain was a lot of fun.

And for September, let's keep to 2 days rule too. If people don't post within 2 days, we pass on to the next person.

I had fun too, but as I'm starting a new job on Monday (which overlaps with my current one by a week) and moving, I'll skip this month...
![]() Have fun and I'll come by to read

Me too!!
I like lostwonder's idea also! There's another writing exorcise that I found, I did it and got a laugh. Write dialogue for a story and start with ".............." fill in the blank to start. "'Kiss me' is a great one."

Maybe I'm ignorant and missed something, but I'm new and I'm not quite sure about all the rules of this. Could someone explain or point me in the direction of where the rules are?

Lostwanderer5 will be back in time to contribute, just not as soon as her position required, thus has been moved a few spaces down at her request.
Various bloggers added. Lady Cat, which one of your two blogs would you care to participate with? ![]() Hello Shay, a blog chain is fairly simple in theory but quite complicated in practice. I start the blog-chain with something, then I notify the next person in line, who runs with what I indicated as a good direction. It helps with activity, notifies our readers of other blogs and - in my case - enables me to connect with a group of people who don't usually fall within my interest (viz, writing interest blogs aren't my cup-of-current events/political science). Thus, a breath of fresh air, so to speak.

I've never done a blogging chain and I'm still pretty new to the blogging scene, but still, it sounds like fun.
![]() That being said, may I join?

Both of you fine writers have been added.
As it so happens, we are at September 1st and but two spots away from the magic 15th. What luck!
