Ah Prom. Bet no one else had their date threaten to throw them off a boat cruising San Francisco Bay. All because I wanted to sit with my friends for dinner and not his rude, irritating bestie who couldn't chew with his mouth closed. Fan-freak-tastic night.

Different subject: Anyone interested in doing a Beta read for me? I have a few already but have made significant changes and would like a fresh pair of eyes.

My school's idea of a safe and fun prom was to lock all of us onto a boat for 7 HOURS!!! There was no way off. It was HELL.

That was 17 years ago. My youngest brother is now a junior at the same school and they still have the same boat trip prom. He's dreading it.

No, but my friend's date got drunk and tried to punch me when I came to save her from his hotel room party. .... in his defense, I may or may not have tried to knee him in the crotch. Hard to do in a full length gown.

I think a compilation of Stories from Prom Hell would be hilarious!

We'd have to use the boat story as the finale-- that tops them all. LOL

Oh, Lord you guys--those stories are both awful and hilarious! Kate, I don't know if I've ever kneed anyone in the crotch, but I've definitely poured my fair share of drinks on obnoxious guys' heads. They like that a lot, too.

Or it could be a school-at-sea prom. The best friend attempts to pull her slightly inebriated friend from a room party only to be punched in the face and fall overboard. She wakes up later on a Spring Break party island and decides to become a bartender.

Does she get to meet Tom Cruise there and do fancy drink shaking?

LOVE IT!

DH was actually my date, and as soon as the other guy came at me, DH threw a drink over my head at him. Missed my dress, though-- good shot! lol

I think slit would be the correct way to write it...right?

Both versions sound to me like someone cut her. I'd probably pick a different word.

Yeah, I agree Kate. I think you'd have to make it a smilie for it to work and I'm not a huge fan of it written like that either.

The first time I kneed a guy in the groin was when I was 12 and my 14 year old neighbor held me in place and told me he wouldn't let me go unless I kissed him. I was quite proud of myself - still am.

OK, since we are talking about proms and of the like (past boyfriends for example) it's giving me an idea for my one SNI. While I have not spoken about it a lot, some of you may remember me talking about a school shooting.

My junior prom took place at my highschool and at the time, there was only one guard at the door. Anyone know how well guarded proms are these days?
