Thanks Het. I did write up a ton of hooks last night and realized something about the story that I'd not noticed before. The blossom absorbs the magic in her forest and causes a series of chain reactions starting with humans being able to see her forest, invading it, killing one of her friends, the forest dying . . . the list goes on. I just realized this is all happening because of that damn blossom!

So, a new query hook:

Quote:
When a blossom grows at the base of Melina's tree, life as a dryad takes on a whole new meaning.

or

When a blossom grows at the base of Melina's tree, she must choose between destroying it or losing everything she's ever known.

Speaking of grits, I made my mom bring me boxes of them when she came to visit us in Germany. I rationed those bad boys out.

My husband remembers grits from when he visited the south as a kid... He had to explain to me what it meant.

Chicken pot pie, on the other hand, I certainly know well enough. I have one in the freezer right now.

Morning guys!

I'm not a fan of grits, unless they have sugar in them.

Grits must be mixed with eggs and bacon. Cream of wheat with sugar and oatmeal with honey.

That is all.

I will never understand the American practice of eating bacon with syrup. It seems so...wrong.

Nobody has a Simon from Firefly icon yet? He's my fave! Well, him and Book.

Ugh--NOOOO! My bacon is not allowed to touch my syrup--blech! Then again, I don't like any foods touching what they aren't supposed to. I even dip my pancakes in syrup half the time, so it doesn't run all over the plate. Plus, soggy pancakes = yuck.

Yes, I'm weird. Deal with it.

I only eat my bacon with syrup if they just happen to mingle on my plate.

As for grits, I'm a butter, salt, pepper and cheese girl. Sugar in them sounds disgusting!

Aha, so the bacon doesn't go *in* the syrup? That makes a bit more sense. I have seen pictures of the bacon+syrup+pancakes combo and just assumed they were eaten all together.

The 4th Sunday in March is when Sugar Shacks open across Maine. Usually they have events ranging from small (syrup tastings on ice cream) to big (tastings, craft fairs, live music). This is usually when people stock up on the Maple Syrup for the year. There are maps printed with all the locations of participating shacks and people usually go to 2-5 of them.

Yep - that's me. I'm not a huge fan of syrup in my bacon. Although... my friend made this bacon appetizer for a super bowl party... it was essentially bacon dipped in brown sugar and bourbon (I'm sure there were other things too) and baked it until crispy. It was pretty fantastic.

I'm the complete opposite--I can't eat them with butter and all that jazz. But I have tried it. Just not for me.
