New Blog

I hope this is the right thread for this...

I started a blog yesterday. Still a work-in-progress, but it's fun! Mine's all about the writer's life - the ups, downs, struggles, joys, etc.

I probably offer nothing particularly inventive or new, in the way of blogging about writing. But I do teach creative writing classes and will probably start using some quotes/prompts/info in my blog that I offer to my students. As well, there are personal experiences with writing that I talk about. I've only got 3 entries so far, but, hey - it's a start! Because of my grading schedule I'm not sure how often I'll be posting. I'd love to post daily, but it might be weekly at first...

For those curious/interested/have nothing better to do, here's the link - http://writerscorner-traci.blogspot.com/

Hope to see you there!

Nice work and looks good, but why not get your own URL?

Another good thing to do might be to offer some type of email newsletter so you can capture all those potential customers who are coming to your website! I use aweber, but there is also a free one called phplist (that I have no experience with).

Well, feel free to ask any questions - most of my professional experience has to do with websites!

Any tips for buildling traffic? I'm still a newbie to blogging - I've gotten a few "followers" in the past month (very cool!), but could still use some suggestions for how to "advertise" without being obnoxious. Thanks in advance...

You have good content but you need to get off that generic narrow-format blogspot template. if you google free blogger template xml, or some variation thereof, you will get a lot of option. I also suggest having some kind of obvious 'about me' or 'what this blog is about' section. And also a custom logo or banner.

Thanks for the advice, veinglory. As soon as I have some time (hopefully after the holidays), I'll definitely look into that!
