Greetings authors!

I wanted to drop in on Absolute Write and say hello to everyone! I am a young agent at Jill Grinberg Literary Management, a boutique literary agency based in Manhattan. Though we are known primarily for our stellar award winning and bestselling children's and young adult list (Scott Westerfeld, Garth Nix, Catherine Gilbert Murdock, the Bemelmans Estate for the Madeline series), we also represent many adult fiction and nonfiction authors of all ilk, such as biographer, NYT bestseller and National Book Award finalist T.J. Stiles. I came over to JGLM after five years at William Morris Agency, where was a coordinator selling both domestic and foreign rights after years of working with many of the agency's clients.

I'm here at JGLM building my client list, and I'm looking primarily for fiction. I recently submitted my first project with JGLM, which sold at auction for six figures, so I'm off to a good start! My passion has always been fantasy (urban and epic) and speculative fiction for both adults and YA/middle grade. I particularly love a story that's set in our time, but tweaks reality just slightly, be it time travel (Ken Grimwood, one of my favorites) or vampires. I've also become, thanks to Christina Dodd, Charlaine Harris, and JR Ward, a fan of paranormal romance. I'm also a fan of suspense/mysteries/spy thrillers.

I welcome any and all submissions including the first fifty pages of the manuscript by email to evan (at) grinbergliterary.com with the word "query" in the subject line. If you have a manuscript that sounds like it would be great for me, please do feel free to send it along! I read everything and try to respond as quickly as possible, usually not longer than several weeks. I love to send comments, and I'm always happy to read new drafts and revisit submissions.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I try to be accessible as possible, and welcome the chance to talk with you.

Thanks, onwards!

Best,
Evan

Welcome to the Cooler.

I have the strangest premonition... Ah... You will be inundated with queries from AW folks who read this post. Damn, that was strange. I don't normally speak in voices until the ninth pint.

Wow. I just finished a book manuscript in epic fantasy (1 of 4 planned) and I'm working on a paranormal action/romance/adventure novel (1st of several planned).

And I was just getting ready to start looking for an agent :)

Welcome!!

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. Good luck.

Much success in your new digs.

Welcome to the party, Evan!

Gotta tell ya-- Evan's fast. I sent him a query early this week and heard back from him today. Alas, we weren't a fit but still 'twas nice hearing from him so quickly.

Hi Evan! Welcome to AW! I don't post a lot but thought I'd say hey. :)

I actually queried you awhile ago but never heard back...I figured no response was a no...

Hi Evan, greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

I think your email may get jammed after this post :)

A must read thread is the newbie guide, which is in a sticky thread at the top of the Newbie Forum. Also check out Cathy_C's thread, which is also stickied at the top of the Newbie forum, Next on our tour, if you'll look to the left, you'll notice... to find out about the various buttons and icons, and also about rep points, how to PM (private message) members, custom avatars and a whole host of other useful stuff,

If you have any problems you can PM (private message) me and I'll see if I can help, or you can post in the Super-Dooper Newbie 'Ask the Mod' thread at the top of the newbie forum.

And for fun, we have the terrific Newbie Question of the Day thread. Pop in and have a go at answering a few of the really easy questions (the link is in the sig line below). They are easy. Yep, they are. And so much fun.

Oh, and do you like double choc-chip cookies? :D

here there and every which where
Welcome. I hope you like it here.

Whoa! An agent who's openly open to YA vampire books? I do believe he's just opened the Inbox floodgates.

Catch me if you can!
Welcome Evan,

I still have quite a bit of editing and polishing to do before you'll hear from me (oh... wait... I have to finish it first too? Darn). Be patient! ;)

Seriously, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors and I will add you to my potential query list. I think it's wonderful that you're here, especially since there are so many talented writers who are also looking for someone just like you. I can't imagine you'll be bored after this introduction!

Make yourself at home, and let us know if you have any questions :)

How about a spin? Instead of the typical vampire meets modern main character and mopes around about his eternal life, we have the main characters turn into vampires at the beginning, 300 years ago, and follow their adventures at that point?
In other words, does a historical fiction meets young adult vampire adventure ring any bells? It’s not Harry Potter or Darren Shan, but something very different.
