The MacAllister is a tyrant and Hapisofi was mean to me thread

So MacAllister is now out censoring my posts all over the place.

Nonsense.

I deleted the terrible and non-industry-standard advice you posted in that thread, Mathew. I also left a note explaining exactly why.

Kids books are a tough enough game, without people having to labor under misinformation they didn't have enough experience to disregard.

Just because you want to feel like a big shot by pretending you know a lot more than you do, does NOT mean I'm under any obligation to let you do so here. Get a blog like everyone else, for cryin' out loud.

Not just a Tyrant but but an Editor-In-Chief Tyrant.

I wish, ladies and gentlemen, to draw your attention to the erstwhile former editor's use of intercaps. That's all his, and none of mine.

Were I shopping for either an agent or an editor, I would look for one who has some ability to read the screen. It's not like it takes a uni degree. It's not even a little bit difficult. Reading the screen is a basic skill.

It is, however, an astonishing professional lack when absent.

If I can chime in about the tyrant thing. NO. When Mac closed the manprawn thread a few months ago it got heated, but through it all I stuck to one thing I know in my heart. She's fair. I don't suck up to anyone, and if I felt the way you do Mat I wouldn't bother to log on.

So a person can't write about being censored on AW? The post vanishes entirely with no proof it ever existed.

MacAllister you are being tyrannical.

Just because you said some libelous stuff in another thread doesn't mean you now need to go stomping around everywhere frantically deleting my posts.

Mat calls himself an agent. Some very experienced writers, editors and other publishing professionals questioned his qualifications. Mr. Ferguson misrepresented that questioning as "vitriol" and all the other familiar tropes these guys trot out when anyone has the temerity to question them.

Finally, I took exception to his consistent dodging of questions, misrepresentation of what other members had written, and determination to play persecuted-martyr to the kind-hearted but completely inexperienced newbies who were feeling oh-so-sorry for him.

Oh, I also said I was personally convinced, at this point, that Mr. Ferguson is a lying sack of shit -- as opposed to simply gormless and naive. He's been banging on the "libel" drum, since.

Here's the thread, if you're just dying to see where this trainwreck really started.

I have a question.

Mr. Ferguson, per your own statements in the thread bearing your name in B&BC, you said:

Quote:
The sales I've made have been for myself! Otherwise my experience comes from in-house work creating and pitching projects and then taking them through to publication. I started up paid agent work this year and haven't taken on any writers. I do represent two illustrators - Erin Hunting and Kelly Abbott. The illustration/licensing business is called On The Wall (www.onthewall.com.au).
Now, based on most agents credentials, I'd hope you'd agree this is rather slim and given that you are not yet representing any writers and have only done in-house work and your own sales, what then qualifies you to wear the title "agent"? What do you bring to the table for a writer other than yourself?

Also?

I wish to accuse Master Ferguson of cruel and unusual abuse to the English language, and indelicate acts involving clausulae supendiae and the comma.

this is bullshit and you know it.

it most certainly would make it true.

No. She has to cross the mists separating the land of the faerie from our mortal world before it's true. Or else ride a white horse. One or the other. I forget which.

Oops. Sorry. Stew doesn't want me to amock here. She has to keep cleaning up my messes when I do.

It's her opinion. Mac, like everyone else, is allowed to offer her opinion, especially on the message board she owns.

I, personally, would like to correct your misuse of the word "censorship," as you, like so many before you who have used it, don't seem to truly comprehend what that means. Americans misapplying the First Amendment (which would not apply here since you, as an Australian, have not done so) and anyone misclaiming censorship are a couple of pet peeves of mine.

Read my About page http://www.mathewferguson.com.au/about.html

If you do, you'll be one of the first to actually bother to click on the link before posting back to me.

The About page is a summary and doesn't list all the places I've worked. This is what led HapiSofi to saying I've never worked for a trade publisher when in fact I have.
