So it took writing and pitching 7 books for me to finally land an agent. As much as I fantasized for the last 8 years, I never dreamed I'd find one so enthusiastic about my writing, character, and story. And she's really, REALLY enthusiastic!

I'm sure everyone says this, but: If I managed to find an agent, there's hope for ANYONE, LOL.

But seriously, I went through a LOTTTT of rejection to get here. Hundreds. Per my avatar, timing really is everything :) Okay, patience and stubborness help too.

Thanks to all those on SYW for their honesty and high standards when critiquing. I listened with open, grateful ears!

Congratulations. I was ecstatic after two years and two books, I could imagine how you feel.

LOL, I probably shouldn't read this thread while at work. You guys are so awesome and making me a little emo.

But it's true that some people (me) don't start out great writers and have to keep pushing until they're work is representable. Trust me when I say, if it happened for me, there's hope for everyone!

You totally earned this! Congratulations! And I hope a whole bunch of people who start posting in SYW and feel disheartened find this thread and realize that hard work and sincere respect for critique can really, really work. Yay!

Thanks so much, suki! Now, and I hope suki doesn't mind my saying this, but I'd really like to thank him (as well as so many others obviously) for the time they took to critique my work. But suki, in particular, REALLY showed me areas I needed to work on with voice, which is something my agent said she loved in my book and something I believe got her attention. And he gave such specific examples in SYW that I couldn't NOT figure out how to improve. So, yeah, listening to criticism can be a really great thing.

Yayyyyy!

I'll totally say thank you and you're welcome, but you did the hard work.

Oh, and I'm a woman. Not that that matters, really, except to my partner. LOL.

ETA: LOL - Melia beat me to the clarification. LOL.
