399 words this morning, though I didn't feel too good about them. But I remembered this (paraphrased) quote from Stephen King: "Sometimes you're doing good work when it feels like you're shoveling manure."

Hoping that's true for me.

1200 today.

I feel like I'm shoveling manure, but at least I'm getting faster at it.

Hah, I hear you on the shoveling manure. It's usually never as awful as you think it is when you go back and read it though!

Lizardmaker, that is awesome! So glad they didn't change too much in the book.

Hope Magali is ok and pops up again soon.

The chapter I'm working on is giving me some trouble, but I'm planning on putting it out of its misery tomorrow.

Good luck with the troublesome chapter, Andrea. Keep on keeping on, everyone.

Only added 180 words yesterday, but that's typical on the weekends for me.

(By the way, the shoveling of manure is a sure way to growing big, strong plants.)

Good point! Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes.

355 words today and feeling optimistic.

1k for today, bringing me to a total of 58. Only 7 thousand more words, and I'll be in within the word count range I was hoping for, and after that, the more the better.

Almost done almost done almost done almost done almost done almost done.

10k words shorter than planned, and these last five chapters rushed like no tomorrow, but it's almost done.

And then I let it sit, drastically rewrite, and start the challenge again.

Way to go, everyone!

For me, grumble, grumble, grumble. I have ideas bouncing around in my head, and I want to write. But I have to do this query and synopsis thing. I have so little time to write every night, that I can't do both, so all my energy is focused on revising the query and synopsis to try to get published...and distracting myself with facebook games.

Ok, back to the query. grumble, grumble, grumble

I'm not challenging myself or anything to get this work written, but I am rather proud of myself, after having not written much of anything for the past summer, I want to share that I wrote 2400 words today. Fall and winter are my writing times, spring and summer my gardening times. My obsessions change according to the seasons.

I know what you mean about distractions from writing, David. I'm facing that this week, too. If I can get in 2000 words total all week, I'll be pleased.

Welcome, Tepelus, and congrats on your progress. And very nice pumpkin avatar!

I've reached 59k!

And what's really awesome is, I timed myself. While eating lunch, I knocked out a thousand words in about 45 minutes. My writing isn't always that fast, but it's really picking up right now because I'm getting close to the first of my book's three climax scenes.

Love those climaxes!

Welcome, Tepelus!

Monkey, you're aaaalmost at 60k!!

Left my troublesome chapter behind, phew! I'm trying not to touch it too much right now, but I know it's going to need some revising to make the scenes flow a little better.

Welcome back, Elemental. Life steps in sometimes; what can you do?

Congrats, Monkey. I love writing sprints, too.

I mainly edited galleys yesterday. Added only 150 words to one WIP.

You guys, your cheerleader is back!

OK, so let me tell you what happened. I was getting too distracted with the forums here at AW and postponing my precious WIP's, so I asked for a self-ban and it was granted but the period of the ban was one week. Then, thinking nothing of it I didn't try to come back for like 12 days after the ban was lifted, and then the software made a mistake and permanently banned me. I asked to be reinstated and I am back. I've got a new WIP. It's the rewrite of my series I wrote from 2005-2007 called Deadly Sins, and I don't know how long it's going to be because I've divided it into four parts, a series of books concentrated on a specific time period. First era is from 1986 - 1990. Second is from 1990-1993. Then we don't hear more about my characters till 1998, then 1999, then 2000, and then my characters rest till 2004, and from 2004 we jump right into 2011, when my main characters, Michel and Didier Valmont, Siamese twins, separation botched, die, for the first and last time, at age 75. The story is called, well, the first series, Didier's Revenge. I started it around Oct. 4 and the first series of books, as a whole is a little over 83k words in. I'm going to create a word meter in a minute.

You guys, keep on pounding words!! for all you!!

Welcome back, Magali! We missed you!

Congrats on your progress, Tepelus and Texas Girl.

Yesterday was teaching day, so no new word count. But I had some really promising ideas for the sequel to the novel I just sold. Hope I can get the publisher interested. Woo!

Glad you're back, Magali! And wow, Tepelus, that's quite a count for a day.

I had a terrible day yesterday, and spent most of the day moping and crying. I managed to bang out 500 words, though, and I'd gotten an extra 500 the night before, so in the end, I still made it to 60K. Today I have a LOT of work to do to make up for all the time wasted yesterday, and it's soccer practice day, too, but I'm sure I'll get at least to 61k. I'm committed to doing it.

Nicely done, folks, especially those peops hitting their word count goals.

David, I know you'll get back on the horse. I've had long moments of freaking out about the publication process, too. It's no fun.

Two days of no writing. Bad, bad writer! (Imaginary ruler on knuckle.) But today I wrote 500 words even.

61k. Only four thousand from my minimum word count goal, and I still haven't reached the first climax. Plus I've decided to add a few scenes. Yay!

1. Added 1010 words to my MG novel.

2. Publisher is definitely interested in the sequel to my sci fi novel. (She said I "made her day" when I asked her about it!) I suppose this means I'll have to put the YA novel aside. Very sorry to do that, but three WIPs at once, plus everything else in my life, would probably put me in the hospital!
