So, I actually wrote 1,200 words today, but my count only increased by 700, because I chopped some stuff out last night. Either way, I was in or better than that 500-1,000 word daily goal.

I didn't make my 5000 words a week goal BUT I blame that on surprise birthday celebrations. So maybe next week!

Great job, Nicole!

I'm excited. I've got an enthusiastic beta whose gotten me excited about the book again. He encouraged me to go with the massively rewritten novel, which I'd started and abandoned, and after the time away it's going much more easily than it had before. With the day off, today *might* be the day! Wish me luck, all!

Good luck, Chris!! Please keep us posted in your progress!!

Ok, after a few days absence, here's an update for my typed WIP:

My WIP started at 55,648 words and today, the word count went up to 58,475 words. That's an increment of 2,827 words. I hadn't worked on it in a few days but now I'm back on the wagon on that one. My WIP written long hand, I've been working on that continuously though. Now, to update that ticker!! I'm so excited! So close to that exciting feeling again!!

Thanks everyone for your support!
Magali.

Hello hello again, everybody. After some brainstorming and outlining and reconsiderations, I'm ready to pick up RAINSHADOW again. Yesterday I wrote 4.5K words bringing my total somewhere up around 19K. Much of that is going to have to be heavily revised/rewritten to fit with the new plot arrangement, but for a first draft I'm making good progress and I'm happy. As for the Sky Prince, I'm about 14K words into the new version of that. Since most of the book is staying the same except for the beginning and a short stretch of the middle, I'm writing the new scenes first and then going back to edit and polish the whole thing.

I'm back.

After much flip-flopping and editing, brainstorming and outlining my next novel, I decided that You Don't Have to Cook in the Clink still has things it can teach me, and still has potential as a marketable, full-length novel.

I've received some absolutely wonderful feedback from an AW member and have read a couple of books in the same genre, and am ready to start again. This is going to take a pretty hefty rewrite, but here goes:

You Don't Have to Cook in the Clink
Wordcount: 35,378/65,000+
Daily Minimum: 50 words

I'm going to try to Finish This Damn Book one more time!

Woohoo Monkey! I've been in that position. It's both exciting and daunting. Best of luck to you!

Another update from me, since I'm back on challenge-track. Did a little over my daily 1K for Rainshadow, bringing me up to 20K. I could go on, but I'm thinking I need to work on the worldbuilding a little more, so I'm going to spend the rest of my free time today just brainstorming and puffing up that part of the story.
Also revised about 5K on The Sky Prince, which isn't technically part of the challenge, but I'm going to update here anyway since it feels good to write down my accomplishments

AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

4:11am, EST: I finished the damn book!

I FINISHED THE DAMN BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just a first draft, and I already know there is a lot of rewriting to do before I'm ready for betas or critters, but...this is a GREAT milestone. I am pleased.

And tired.

Goodnight!

It occurred to me today that I neglected to keep track of over-all weekly word count... so I have no idea how close I am to my goal of 5000 words a week.

You GO, semmie!

I'm, unfortunately, buried under Day Job-related matters and haven't so much as opened my book file for anything past minor edits. Still at 91,000 and change.

ARGH. But it will get done, one way or another.

Awesome Semmie! Sounds like you got really into it in order to stay up that late to finish. Woohoo!

As for moi, I've done good today. About 4.5k today on Rainshadow, and between last night and this morning brought The Sky Prince up to 25K in total (with two brand new scenes yay!) Now I need a break!

Ok, 100 words tonight, but for me that's a major accomplishment. I've been inundated with kids' baseball games/tournaments and work lately, that when I get to the computer in the evenings, I have no desire to write or do much of anything.

So, tonight, I sat down with the first chapter, and I began editing to help myself get motivated to write. True, I just added a few words here and there, but now I feel ready to get back into it tomorrow. I'm way behind my goals that I recently set, but hopefully I found a spark and can catch up quickly.

Great job, Witch_turtle! Glad to see you sticking with it and making so much progress.

TinaPickles: I've done this, too, but I've been able to go back and check this thread to find out how far I've come. Keep us updated!

LadyMage: if you do something every day, no matter how small, and if you always write before you log in, then a kind of momentum builds. You always have something to show for the day, and your mediocre days get balanced by high-productivity ones.

David Poellot: There's nothing wrong with editing. Your word count won't be as high, but you're progressing steadily toward a finished novel, and that's what counts, right? I hope that spark turns into a bonfire!

As for me, I got a measly 127 words yesterday, but it was a day when I'd normally have gotten nothing done at all.
So far today, I've gotten 170, but I'm hoping I'll get a lot more before the day is through.
