Hip-Hop, I'd suggest you simply post in the appropriate forum something like "Anyone who wants my story, please PM me." It shouldn't come to where we writers can't use our networks to warn each other about marginal agents for fear of being mistreated!

Well, it's been a week since I spoke to the agent last week. He just got back to me... I'm still in there, but no graduation to the next circle yet. His colleagues 'quite liked the book' (real confidence booster that one). They've had a revision meeting and I'm now staring, goggle-eyed, at their list.

I've been in this situation before. It's called 'THE TEST'. Can she take crit? Can she make meaningful changes based on crit? Is she a psycho nutcase who fluked a half-decent story but can't quite carry it off all the way? I hope I can pass one and two. Not sure sure about question three yet.

Pass the chocolate cake. It's revision time.

This is a good thing. If I had pom poms I'd shake them at you and say, GO! GO! GO! (not really). But I will say, if you can do one and two that takes care of three (except for the nutcase part). Will double fudge brownies do?

Thanks for the poms poms. I totally agree with you. I'm so lucky to have a list of (what are amazing) revisions and not a 'don't let the door hit you on the way out'. So, so lucky. And digesting the list? Every single one of the suggestions would make it a much better book. It's down to me not to blow it. Yikes.

Double fudge brownies sound awesome, thanks. I'd take them with some of Danielle's yummy coffee, but I think I'm probably plenty wired already!

Good luck rosiecotton!

Woke up to another form R from a query sent yesterday. That's three days in a row with rapid-fire rejections. Funny thing is the last two had posted turnaround times of 4-8 weeks. I don't know what to think of that.

Good spin = the readers loved your query and sent it on to Agent who loved it too, but was just too busy w/ current clients!?!?!?

And my inbox is silent still. Apparently, when I told myself I was going to get some news today, the universe interpreted that as "no news is good news!"

Thumbs up

Thanks for the imput Miss Plum! I am actually happy that I got a R today after a long silence. It was my first nice rejection that was actually to me and not just "no thanks" They said that they admired my writing but just didnt feel the connection. Oh well, it is actually funny how a nice rejection can give you the boost you need to continue. I have been working on my new book and kind of put the query for this one on the back burner but now I am revived and going to start to query some more!
Good luck rosiecotton, it sounds like good news!

Sadly, I cannot indulge. Here's the form reject:

"Thank you for sending me your query for review. Ultimately I did not feel as wholly enthusiastic about your project as I should when I take something on. We wish you the best of luck with your writing and your search for an agent, and hope that this email does not discourage your pursuit in any way, as it often takes several tries to find the right agent."

Spring cleaning? on the rapid turn around. Who knows? Whenever I think I've got it figured out they change all the rules.

But, yay, on the new batch of cookies, er...queries!
