I met Stephen King in NH (check posts for blog of the experience)

So ever since I was 12 years old I have been a fan of Stephen King. I am 31 now so for 20 years he has entertained me and I just love his stuff. One of the things on my bucket list is to meet him and have him sign a book. Today I found out he is doing ONE! signing for his new book due out in November FULL DARK, NO STARS. Just one! Here is the information:

http://www.stephenking.com/promo/full_dark_no_stars/fdns_book_signing.html

It isn't very far from where I am either! They are only taking the first 450 people to e-mail them with 50 stand-bys and I am so hoping I got in in time! I got a auto-responder saying they would let me know if I was in the first 450. I will be on pins and needles tomorrow waiting to see if they call me. I know he is just a person and not everyone's cup of tea as an author, but this is really significant to me. He has been an influence on my life since I was little. I am kind of disappointed with all the restrictions (no cameras, no personalizing) but I will deal. I just wanted to sound like an idiot fangirl here and get it out of my system.

They made the announcement on StephenKing.com at 10am this morning and I e-mailed at 9:45pm so...I dunno. I guess I'll see. *hugs and is nervous*

ETA: I have met him now! Check blog for experience.

Here's hoping for you. The first thing I remember reading by him was in Omni Magazine, maybe 1979-1980, when "Firestarter" or some portion of it was serialized in it. So he's been a popular writer for as long as you've been alive! :)

I had to look up "bucket list" - I'd heard it before as a list of things to do before you die, but geez, I'm so out of current culture, didn't know it was a movie.... maybe I should get that DVD at the Redbox thing or something.

Thanks, Ben! Yes, he has been popular as long as I have been alive. I was born in 1979. As matter of fact both Stephen King and I have the same birthday! We were both born on September 21st. And yes I meant bucket list as a list of things to do before I die. I have not seen the movie though. I am going to be so antsy tomorrow.

Sadly, the writer I most want to sign my books died in 2001 of a heart attack.

Extra special bonus love for anyone who knows which author I'm talking about - he's still quite popular, and a number of people on AW have quotes by him in their sig-lines.

:)

I hope you get to meet Mr. King. :)

I hope this works out for you. King is by far my favourite writer when it comes to those kinds of novels.

Wow, I'm so happy for you. I love Stephen King. I've been reading his books for what seems like forever. You'll have to let us know how it turns out. It must be something to be that famous of an author for people to stand in line and get a reservation to see you. :hooray::partyguy::hooray:

Thanks joyce! Yeah someone I told about it today asked me if you usually have to reserve a space for a book signing and I said "Only if you're waiting for Stephen King."

I understand your excitement. W00t!

You might want to take a tape recorder along with you and hide it in your pocket. lol

If you take good notes or mental notes, you might put together a short story about what it is like to meet up with one of your 'idols'. It could be a real cute story. (Always keep eyes open for opportunities.)

I so envy you......:D

A dark, evil place.
Big congrats, AF. Just remember, Stephen King is probably nervous about meeting you too. :)
