So when is this lady gonna call me back? And should I call her?

I'm searching for a new nanny job right now. So I am registered at all the typical nanny web sites: GoNannies, Nannies4Hire, etc. And then over the weekend I got an e-mail (via one of the nanny web sites) from a lady who lives in THE most blue-blooded community around these here parts. In the message she said "I went over your resume and you sound just wonderful. If you're still looking for a position, please call me on my cell at this number."

So I called at 9:04 this morning. She was all stressed and busy and hectic and said "Okay, well can I call you back? I'm in the middle of something."

So we both hung up.

That was over an hour ago.

Should I just wait by the phone all day??

a day is nothing.

i'd give her until wednesday-ish at which point i'd call to see what's what.

Yeah, I know when you're anxious, an hour can seem like forever. Such is my daily worklife - I'm always so anxious to get out of here that each minute is an eternity.

If she neds a nanny, she has kids. All kinds of things could have happened to take up her day and make her fall exhausted into her chair. If she's lost her phone and your number, she'll email again.

One emergency room trip can make a mother forget everything else.

Otherwise, as noted above call her again on Wednesday.

I called her half an hour ago. She apologized for not calling back. And then said, "So tell me about yourself." So I gave her about 30 seconds worth of my experiences, but then she suddenly interrupted and said, "Oh, that's my other phone ringing. I have to get it. I'll call you back again this time. I promise."

Half an hour ago.

The lady seems to be disorganized. And I would wonder too, about getting paid timely.

I have two phone lines. If I'm on the personal line and the office phone rings, I'll put the personal call on hold while I answer the other. Sometimes the office call is very brief. If the office call will take a while, I'll ask them to hold while I get off the personal call. If I'm on the office line and the personal line rings, I'll ignore it unless I'm expecting an important call about a family health issue or something.
