So here we are -- January already -- Christmas is over! I know it's going to be a very larthargic time as the holidays end, so I hope we can squeeze out just a bit of writing. Our writing prompt for this month is (drum roll):

I'd be surprised if you hadn't already guessed ;)

Caterpillars,
or/and
Snails (for those who wanted an alternative, back-up :D )

Create a story--a poem--a complete letter, or anything your character leads you to. Happy writing!!
Please make sure you post in Children's Share Your Work---password is vista!!

p.s. I didn't use Honeybugs post for December's prompt to create this one :sarcasm

LOL... maybe caterpillars and snails. How come the only thing I can think of sounds suspiciously like James and the Giant Peach?

... awaiting inspiration...

Yep, you can of course do one for each, or in fact one with both. Totally up to you. May the prompt be with you. :D

Not feeling inspired yet, but can't wait for bed time. I do my best thinking while I'm trying to fall asleep. Catepillars and snails? Might not make for the best dreams though!

Oh, golly. I'm just drawing a major blank with this one. Not sure I can do it. You're not supposed to make this so Hard, Jed!

I'm so excited! I just posted my first ever writing prompt story. It was a lot of fun to write. And Jed, caterpillars and snails was a great idea. Way to go and thanks for the creative excercise.

Thanks, Jed, for the prompt this month. I was blanking at first, because I do not care for bugs. At my kid's preschool they have an art project where they put snails in water tinted with food coloring and let them loose on a blank paper. The kids love it, but I always ask to not be the parent helper on that day. They also have a snail circus, where the kids tie strings between blocks and the snails climb all over their constructions. Snail day. Ew.

Hmm. Nice! Perhaps Duke and Eddie need to get up to more hijinx... (plus I need to get out of my writing slump).

OMG, teachers are crazy...

I can just see myself, sneaking around the garden at 5:15 in the morning, collecting snails for me students...

Not gonna happen.

Yep, I'm not feeling inspired yet, either. But it'll come. Soon. Maybe. Perhapsh. A caterpillar and a snail walked into the bar. They each order a pint of lager. And something else happens afterwards

Okay, your kid's teachers are plain nuts.

Yeah, you know you want to. Think of all the pleasure you'll bring to the little kiddies faces when they see what you have planned. And then you can have a French cooking lesson after you've finished painting ;)

Jed, that French cooking lesson is truly evil! Are you trying to scar them for Life!

SheilaG, sounds like you have plenty of material for a snail story! Good luck!

It was better than the science lesson, with the title "Ever wondered what happens to snails when you put them in a bowl of salt?" :D

 Too funny.

Preschool teachers are amazing. They can make a craft project out of anything, and it's usually the things nobody else wants (snails, for instance). I loved cereal box day - you carefully unseam a cereal box, turn it inside-out, and tape it back together with the blank cardboard facing out. The kids built their own cities.

Jed, looks like you've got some interesting snail plans!

Of course, before you can eat the snails, you have to feed them nothing but cornstarch for days to clean out their filthy little intestines.

Eating snails to begin with didn't make you throw up?! The cornstarch threw you over the edge?
