Lucy, you seem to have posted this in three separate places.

I did - to make sure everyone who needs the list would see it. Apparently that is spam - though I kind of take offense at that term seeing as how my posting this is totally selfless and took a lot of time to collect.

Whatever. Now I know.

It's a little overkill to post it all over the board (and the reason it appears to be spamming is because you appear to be promoting your website with each post). I added it in YA to the recent agent list thread and deleted your second one there.

It's a helpful place to start, but, everyone, remember to do your research on all agents and agencies when using any sort of list or site to start querying with.

You can also get the same list from the Writers handbook, the writers and artists year book and agentquery.

I recommend Querytracker, because it gathers a lot of information about agent response times and such.

Hi Lucy, it's sometimes tricky navigating a forum as large and active as Absolute Write, trust me, I know from experience. This means it really is always a good idea to start at the beginning, such as posting a hello in the Newbie forum. And it's always essential new members read the newbie guide.

As a new member I recommend (not just to you, but any new member) to take some time to read the sub-forum(s) you plan on posting in, this often saves a lot of time and hassle later on. This is a great community, with great people and great information, and we always welcome new members who wish to contribute and help fellow writers on their road to publication.

We have no problem with members promoting their blogs, books, articles and such here on absolute write, however there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The correct place to promote these things is the Announcements, Events, and Self-Promotion forum.

What a member shouldn't do is post multiple, duplicate, threads in a lot of different forums, which can just appear to be the member driving traffic to their blog, which can be seen as spamming. I am not saying you are here to do this, but it can certainly appear this way as I'm sure you know and understand. We all live and learn and we all make little mistakes such as this which can be put down to our keenness and inexperience on the interweb. I hope you will stick around and be a valued member of our online writing community here.

I second both: Querytracker, and Agentquery, used together they cover it all. But thanks for the specific list as well.

I also agree on these two used together, I've also used The Children's Writers and Illustrators Guide, it has some helpful information. If it's not outdated already!

Also Jed, that was very nicely put and pointed out.
