Any fans here of Portuguese novelist José Saramago (1922-2010)?

I've read every novel he's published, plus short-stories, autobiography, diaries, and even collected blog entries. He was quite simply my favourite novelist at the time of his death. He's written:

Blindness (adapted into a movie)
Seeing
The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis
All The Names
The Gospel According to Jesus Christ
Death at Interruptions

Ah, just asked if you'd read any Saramago in your intro thread.

I've read Blindness, Death at Intervals (interruptions) and All The Names. Quite simply, he's (was) brilliant.

You should read Seeing; it's a semi-sequel to Blindness. The blindness metaphor is more political here, having to do with blank votes. It is, to put it mildly, a novel that deals with what is called nowadays the 'Crisis of Democracy.'
