Ok at 2.6K of my re-writing... but i'm worried... i dont know what sounds better this new First person pov or the old third person pov!

I have two books that I literally bought a year ago and still haven't read. I'm starting to think I need to have my own personal OUReadathon. If I'd known the real one would last three days I would have participated.

my wip is in first person, and I love it. Probably because all my life I've written in third person. I love the challenge of only being able to reveal so much

I rarely write in first person. >.>; Whenever I do write in first-person, I get stuck because I do nothing but ramble haha. Third-person makes it easier for me to move forward with my plot.

I used to be that way, all rants on why my MC hates mall type people and stuff lol. But now, as I've built a real world, supporting characters, and developed real themes around my pov, it's easier to stay focused. Whereas, before, I would start writing just like that, get 3 pages into a rant and have nothing else to go to.

in my series I've only ever written in first person. I'm sooooo much more comfortable with first person. But the first time around writing UZ i tried third person for the first time, it wasnt bad, i just feel like it would be so much more heartfelt if all the experiences came from a first person voice, although i really dont know what sounds better now that i'm reading them side by side.

I also wind up neglecting my other characters in first person. I wind up with a very developed narrator, and very underdeveloped other characters. Oh first person, y u no be easy to write good! D:<

So my roomate (who I haven't met yet) says she doesn't like Harry Potter that much. WHAT?! HOW CAN I LIVE WITH HER.

Also, very terrible day today. I'm staying in my aunt's house and now I really really wish I could just go home. I am now hiding from the people in this house. *tries not to make any noise* I feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something. *finds solace with twifties*

I too find myself questing POV, probably because I doubt all things I write, but also because I do have a tendency to ramble on.

Keag, I understand, I can remember in my first couple attempts my second greatest developed character, only had about 4 lines to her name.

I rolled my eyes. “Do you remember the Slump?”


“The what?” She stuck her tongue out. I sighed in mock annoyance.


“General Sung was in charge of the northern Chinese army during the twenty thirties.” I smiled, slightly. I’d had to read all about him when I was the RPO at the Forge. He had been the best thing about the hundred plus page monster on space tactics and commanding troops that I’d chewed through when I was able to force myself to read another page.


“So, uh, at the time, China was taking it’s turn in the Grave of Empires. The British got kicked out, the Russians got kicked out, the Americans got kicked out-“


“According to Biff, they left.”


“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes at Biff. We’d met once in person, and he was just how Sarah had described him over our long E-mail correspondence. “But Afghanistan at that point had its hands on a few oil producing algea veins and was farming the stuff in caves. So, most of the mechanized force of the Chinese Army had gotten bogged down in trying to track down these producers and that left a reserve army defending the northern border. Which would have been fine ten years ago, before the world went insane.” I shook my head. “The Russians invaded with their whole damn army. Cruise missiles, bombers, old tanks, everything they could hurl into China in a land grab.”


Sarah grinned. I wondered why for a second. Maybe she just liked hearing my talk? I felt weirdly relaxed, though, leaning against the wall and just narrating. I stuck to it.


“Then they ran into General Sung. He managed to whip the Northern army into something approximating a fighting force and used every single trick you could imagine. He sent out his best, most charismatic officers to every podunk village you could imagine and rabble roused up whole populations to get up rifles and just shoot. He put them in the best places, shored them up with experienced troops, set land mines, booby traps…”


Sarah frowned. “So, he threw inexperienced troops into the fight and used banned weapons?”


I sighed. “Yeah…” I rubbed my shoulders. “But here’s the thing. Once they pushed the Russians to a standstill, reinforcements came up. They bashed aside the Russian advance and General Sung got the order to advance up and take the oil fields of Siberia, though by that point, they were about as useful as rooting through someone else’s garbage.”


“I don’t remember China taking lots of Russia,” Sarah frowned slightly.


“That’s because Sung said no.” I smiled, ever so slightly. Sarah made a ‘hmm’ noise and I continued. “He held the line. Didn’t go past the boarder. He restrained his troops and let the Russians offer a cease fire. Do you know what total war – real total war – between two superpowers is like?”


“Nukes,” Sarah said, getting it.


“Yup.” I sighed. “Sung staked his career on the moral thing. He weighed orders against the possibility of setting off World War 3…and…”


“Like you!”

“Not like me,” I said, voice soft. “Sung kept fifty percent of his army alive. I didn’t even manage two.”
And now that I'm done vomiting my poorly written exposition at you, I have the following things to say...

I'm ambivalent toward HP. I just like lighting things on fire.

You know what?

Tommy will always be my favorite power ranger.

He was the Green Ranger.

Then he was the White Ranger.

...then he was the Red Ranger.

Then he went away. Then, in the Dino-Power series, he came back.

And his first action?

HE KICKS A T-REX IN THE FACE. He's in his normal, every day (non-super powered) form and he turns around and there's just a MOTHERFUCKING T-REX.

And does Tommy blink? NO!

He jumps up. And he spin kicks it.

IN THE FUCKING FACE.

Cause Tommy is HARDCORE.
