Well, if there isn't, there should be.

I know there are pictures of bacon pie (we've posted them before); I'm not sure whether they're for real or mostly just a joke.

Do you make BLTs (bacon, lettuce, tomato) sandwiches in Europe? You can order a BLT in just about any casual restaurant in the US.

Is the bacon cooked or smoked? If smoked, than yes. There are few places where you can choose the ingredients to go in your sandwich, but as I'm not a fan of fastfoods I haven't been to one in years.

Cooked. Some of the bacon here is smoked, but it's still cooked. In the old days, ham, bacon, and pork sausage was smoked in a smokehouse (many farmers had their own smokehouse). You can still find it done the old-fashioned way, but you have to look for it.

Here, you can find a variety of bacon in the typical grocery store (regular, hickory smoked, apple wood smoked, low sodium, maple, etc.). For the "real" old-fashioned thing, I buy from a place that is only open three or four months a year: http://www.ricescountryhams.com/

We have few stores that offer only traditional food, all sorts of hams, meats, pickles, cans, jams, and everything is so good it's hard to choose just one thing.

Here, the main meat and food suppliers have been "industrialized" for all practical purposes (especially the meat industry), although organic is becoming more important. We have a rather nice Farmers Market where you can buy directly from local and regional farmers.

Wow. I knew Romanian were heavily latin-based, but I never realized it were so...latin-y.

Can Romanians understand Spanish or Italian, andreea?

Spanish not so much, but Italian is very similar to Romanian.

We do, but we keep them hidden. We wouldn't want hunters from other lands to come spoil our fun, now would we?

I know Romania has only a small part of the Balkans, but I recently saw a documentary called The Wild Balkans (about the plant and animals life there) that was interesting. They did it so it sort of related to the Middle Kingdom of LOTR.

I've heard about that documentary but I haven't seen it yet. If I remember correctly it promped a long discution on the boards about how LOTR was actually set in the Balkans.

Speaking of bacon . . .

I cook bacon at least three different ways (in skillet, in the oven, in the microwave).

A couple of years ago I got a "bacon press" to use when I make it in a skillet. I accidentally ordered two of the things. I teased a certain young lady that I was going to give her one of them as a birthday gift (which wouldn't be real bright since the thing has a pig embossed on it). Her question to me was did I really want to piss her off while she was holding a heavy, blunt object. Uh, no.

It's online, but I don't think it's viewable outside the US (at least not on the original broadcast website--PBS).

I didn't see the earlier discussion. I'm not an LOTR fan.
