Hell on Wheels

Westerns aren't my thing -- like at all.

After The Walking Dead, I stuck around to give this show a try, and to see Talking Dead, but it didn't hold my interest that long and I changed the channel. Maybe I'll give it another try.

The premise, or well backdrop of the Civil War, is what drew me in, but I don't know. I can't say much because I didn't take anything away from it. Man on revenge?

I enjoyed it. Good to see Ted Levine, though I guess we won't be seein' him no more.

(If his character were sticking around, both Hell on Wheels and The Walking Dead would have a character missing a right hand.)

I'm glad they made it clear the transcontinental railroad was built with enormous government subsidies.

The main character carries (we're told) a Griswold pistol. That's a "cap and ball" revolver, so I hope we'll see him loading it at some point.

Anyone still watching this? I haven't seen the whole season yet, only 4 episodes, but I am loving it. Colm Meaney is such an underrated actor, and this is a great role for him. I don't remember ever seeing Anson Mount or Common before, but both are very talented. And it was nice seeing Ted Levine also, too bad for only one ep.

I really like the premise for the show, the time period it is set in. And I have heard they have already been renewed for season 2. AMC has been putting out some amazing shows!
