It's very good if I do say so myself. Lots of little details (lemon zest to balance the sweetness, a mixture of sugar and honey to avoid bitterness, rose water in the filling and syrup) make this recipe special.

I once made a variation that used orange zest, cinnamon and chocolate chips in place of the nut mixture. And orange zest in the syrup.

I really must caution though, if you're using rosewater, to go light on it. It can be horribly overwhelming if you have too much. I love it, but even I can overdo it.

Yes, this is very important. It still needs to smell like baklava, not a garden. :D
