I was going to treat myself to a book this weekend and there's one I've been meaning to pick up. Unfortunately, I've forgotten what it's called!

It was about a mythical paradise that gets destroyed thanks to a priest's attempt to convert the fantastical population to Christianity. The book is written from three perspectives - a person who finds the rapidly-crumbling books telling the story of the place, the priest who destroys it and his wife, one of the unusual creatures of the land.

It sounded really, really interesting and I'd love to pick it up! Anyone know which book I'm talking about? Please?

It's not the book you're looking for, but you might also enjoy The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver if you haven't read it already.

Was this Elantris by Brandon Sanderson? I don't think that had Christianity specifically, though. There was a priest of a different religion.

Nooo... no, that wasn't it. Ahhh this is frustrating! I was sure I'd bookmarked the book, or saved it in my wists, or my wereads or something, but apparently not.

I don't think The Sparrow was told in tri-perspective or had a civilization in crumbling ruins. It's been a long while, though.

Oh snap! I take it back!!! It's Habitation of the Blessed by Catherynne Valente. I'm embarrassed I didn't think of it as it is currently on my shelf, AND I went to see her talk about it last year. :yessmiley
