I figured it was to do with sun.

I've got freckles/beauty spots that I never had when I was a kid on my arms and face.

No, I don't get beauty spots. I get freckles and my hair gets golden streaks.

(well, it did when I was my natural brunette. Now, it just gets... lighter blonde...)

I would have pictures but... I look hideous.

Because you have an extremely unflattering habit of placing the camera so it aims up your nose. Trust me, the view up my nostrils is pretty damn unattractive too. Take pictures at a good angle with good lighting and a smile, it makes everything 100% better.
