Real Conversation I had a few days ago:
Me: What is this on your salad? BF: My salad? The one you stole? Chicken. Me: What kind of chicken? BF: Chicken from a can. Me: What?! Ew I thought I hated that. This isn't that bad. BF: Ok... Me: Is this what tuna tastes like? BF: Kind of, I guess. Me: I think I might like tuna.

I see that
A shrewd dude shmoo'd two girls, with fortitude. They're now embued with multi-hued toy crude and fruity food. 'Tis funny, but 'tis slewed toward the rude, 'cos Barney's nude. Though not a prude, my eyes are glued, is this a prelude to a feud? Who's in a mood to be so lewd? and who'll get shmoo'd for attitude? But the shrewd dude mew'd, "Just send pastry food". So I'll be humble and send apple crumble.

I make a very good apple crumble. And, I've got sweet, juicy, end-of-season peaches.
![]() ETA: I don't mind working with pastry - it's a great way to get my nails clean.

It's harder to buy a commercially made peach pie than most other kinds. The peaches have to be "just right" to make a great pie.
The "peach capital" of the US (the state of Georgia) is just south of where I live. Georgia is known as The Peachtree State; they like using Peachtree as a street name. Directions on how to get somewhere in Atlanta, Georgia: Take Peachtree Street to Peachtree Avenue, then go two blocks to Peachtree Boulevard, turn right onto Peachtree Way, then turn at Peachtree Place, follow the signs to Peachtree Circle, then turn left at Peachtree Road, then go 1/2 miles until you come to Peachtree Lane. You can't miss it.

Hello lovers of chicken of the sea and crumble. I love, LOVE crumble except rhubarb crumble. Bet Gail makes superb crumble.
Could someone please tell me what is the difference between a crumble and a cobbler? Is it just English vs American words? I've never tried cobbler because there's always something more interesting to have at any restaurant in the US. It sounds much like a crumble. Awaiting enlightenment. |

I think cobbler is roughly equivalent to crumble, Rosie. I've always assumed that's the case, anyway.
'Course, it's not as good. ROAR

I am staying out of this discussion.
Here's one website with definitions (I'm sure the next website will say something slightly different, and the next website will say something else, and the next website . . .): http://www.gourmet.com/food/2009/08/...fruit-desserts

Thanks AC! Very interesting! First time I ever heard of a crisp that was not made with potatoes and did not come out of a bag.
Rob, close, but not quite. Our humble crumble is an American crisp. Learn something new everyday. I consider myself sufficiently enlightened on crumble, crisp, betty and pandowdy. And cobbler too. |

I always thought cobbler was made with a softer dough, close to dumplings, that is more or less dropped on top of the filling - and crumble was made using short-crust pastry that is grated over the fruit filling.
Good, either way.
