A publisher or agency using Google ads to solicit your novel probably isn't anyone you want to write for.

I'm not sure what the genre of your work is, but there have been a couple of people on the kindleboards author forum who've tried manga style covers and they haven't done well and a cover change has improved their sales. YMMV.

If you're in Australia, you'd be publishing direct to Amazon and on Smashwords for distribution to Barnes & Noble, Apple, and a variety of other places like Sony or Kobo where nobody seems to ever sell much Unless it's a short story, you want to go for $2.99 as a price point to get the amazon 70% royalty. (Exception, erotica shorts sell at $2.99.)

The royalty from Smashwords is 80% of whatever they get from their partners. The vast majority of your sales will come at B&N and iBooks.

Amazon will price match. However, it will usually take a few months to get them to actually match the price on a self-published book and usually requires having all your friends report the free price.
