After being taken for a ride from Bouncin' Bobby, I am cautious about submitting to legit agents. So far I have queried 40, but only one has responded on the query letter alone and asked for a partial. It turned out to be a rejection, so now I must look to the ms to find fault there.

I have had the ms read by one crit partner and now I would like to have a fresh set of eyes go through it. ROWAN OF THE MOOR is set in 4th-century Roman-occupied Britain with fantasy elements.

As for hard critiques, I'm a survivor or QLH and query shark. I can take a direct hit. I have good battle armor.

While I hope you get the beta reader you seek, so every weakness of the work can be revised out of existence, it sounds to me like the query might still not be doing its job.

But if you've survived QLH, you're going to be plenty strong enough for even the harshest beta read. Have you got a chapter up at Share Your Work so people can read a sampling to see if they're interested?
