They're dropping like flies out there. But it's okay - this is MTS, where not only is the average body count per novel somewhat higher than elsewhere, we actually sit down and work out average body counts! Or is that just me... ? :D

Anyway. A place to say goodbye to characters as they pass on. No flowers.

It is with regret that we say goodbye to Frank. He never saw it coming, but then he wouldn't have been the same guy if he had.

Oh no! Frank! ::wails:: :thankyou: (Sorry, that was the one I knew about that had flowers.)

Great thread idea. Someone's about to die in my life book, too. I'll make sure I memorialize her here. :)

No one* regrets Shanda's sudden and untimely death at the hands of a gunman with poor aim. She was a witch anyway.

Uh, rest in peace. Or pieces. Whatever. :)

*Come to think of it, her husband seemed a little upset. Meh. He was probably not very nice, either.

Great thread!

While there have been a lot of deaths in my current WIP, most of them have been drug dealers and the likes, so nothing to cry about. If you think about it, I'm doing society a favor by killing off so many of them. Well, fictionally any way. :guns:

The great state of wonder.
The most recent to perish, and the only so far in this WIP: Special Agent David Fawler, FBI. But his death kickstarts the story, gets our heroes partnered up, and fuels an investigation into the bad guy. Vengeance shall be forthcoming, Davey.

It is my sad duty to announce that the body of Detective Dan Davis, a member of the NYPD Narcotics Bureau, was discovered in the Hudson River this morning. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church at 3 P.M. next Saturday.

"The bodies of two as-yet-unidentified employees of a security firm were discovered last night in a cell believed to have been holding a dangerous fugitive. This reporter understands that the men appear to have been savagely beaten. Police are on the scene and are investigating not only these deaths, but also how they came to have such a serious criminal in custody and why they had not reported his capture. Jack Hackett for BBC News, in Bath."

OK, so it's been a bit of a rampage since last time... six more bodies, although only one named character.

God rest ye, Iain Wilkinson, head of Panopticon Security southern division. You were a right git to start with, but I'm not sure you really deserved to go like that. Nevertheless, you did outlive your usefulness.

Goodbye Jason. You were a lazy, scheming, blackmailing piece of crap but you didn't deserve to die. Goodbye David, you definitely didn't deserve to die but I had to sacrifice you to sell my book. :)

Adieu, Jason. Lazy, scheming, blackmailing pieces of crap should be mourned, too.

The only people that I could seriously say deserve to die in my novel don't. Lordy, this would never make it through the old Hollywood code.

Someplace else.
I'm working up to my deaths in this WIP. It's a slow build, but once they start dying, it's gonna be big.

I'm with Namatu, but in my case I want to kill all my characters. Right now! Every last blasted one of 'em. :e2chain:

They deserve it. They refuse to talk, to do what they're told, and they're making it damn hard to kill them off.

At this point there should be at least three mangled corpses, but I have one. One!!!

Oh, the shame.:e2paperba

Well, I'm in trouble. I've only got the one dead guy.

Rest in peace, Danny. And if you're granted another life, remember that the bad guys stay bad guys, even when they smile to your face.

Spree. Although this is the killer's second! The whole plot revolves around two massacres, one at the beginning, and one at the end. The first could be construed as unintentional; the second is very much intentional. Six is (unfortunately) just the start.

It's going to get much, much worse. TBH I'm not actually looking forward to writing it, because it's going to be painful, but it completes the character's arc. He's gone from existing in a moral vacuum to being properly evil - but he still doesn't think it's evil.

Some of my very best friends are drug dealers. They aren't all scum like T.V. makes them out to be. They're people.

So, from the sound of it, he's having a break from reality... Good luck.
