I'm a newbie freelancer. I've worked for Textbroker for a few months. I was initially rated a 3, and became a 4 after my first review. All my articles get accepted and I usually get high ratings from clients, as well as direct orders.
I recently thought it would be a good idea to branch out and write for some other sites. I applied at Demand Media Studios, Break Studios, and Writer's Access. Since I was accepted with no issues (and zero prior experience) on Textbroker, I thought I'd for sure be able to work at one of these other sites, but my applications were rejected for all three.
I understand rejection is something we all have to deal with as writers, I just wish I knew where I had gone wrong with my application. Of the three, the only one that gave me an explanation was Demand Media (they said they have too many applications, making the hiring process extremely competitive).
I was just wondering if anyone worked at these sites and knew what the requirements are (such as a certain amount of experience). I do not have a college education and my only experience is textbroker, so my resume is a little embarrassing. I'm sure that is part of the reason behind these rejections, but perhaps my writing sample isn't what it should be either.
Any advice on where I should go from here? I will continue working at textbroker, and I was going to apply at ecopywriters as well, but now I'm thinking I should wait to try and find out exactly what I should have on my resume before applying.
Is there anything else a newbie freelance writer can do to make these places want to hire them?
