It's great to be here and meet all of you! After lurking for awhile off and on, I finally took the plunge yesterday and joined. I'm working through major edits of my first novel, a YA sci fi/fantasy, and am excited to become part of this community. It seems to have a lot to offer!

Lora. Welcome to the AW Water Cooler. It's BYOB week, but there is still the standard corking fee. No money is exchanged of course you just have to come up with a ridiculously funny story off the cuff. If you can do that, the world is yours. Well, part of it anyways, because ...well everybody gets to write the story and then the world is theirs too and...well you get the point. You just have to share, so feel free to critique the heck out of the stories here until your too tired to and by that time you'll have your fifty posts and then we all get to see what you've got in store for us.
Take some time and read the Newbie Guide and the Stickies found
at the top of Forum pages. They are your best guide to learning about
Absolute Write.

50 posts. Don’t make a mad dash to reach your 50 posts. Take some time to greet fellow newbies,
critique other members’ works, or join a discussion.

I definitely need to work on my critiquing skills, so that'll be a great way to go to build up 50 posts and help others in the process. I'm not in any rush to get there.
I've got a short story that I submitted for an anthology, but was told it would need more editing time than they could devote to it given their time frame/volume of submissions, so it would be wonderful to get more eyes on it to help get it in shape to try again for other publications. Oh, and I'll definitely need to work through the synopsis for my novel in SYW once I get to that point.

Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Week thread at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.
