The 2006 acceptance pledge!

Yeah, I know that's what we are all in this for, but why not keep track of that too. (Not like you wouldn't) I currently have 2 finished ms and 2 WIP's, if I get 2 of them accepted this year, I'll be tickled pink. Who's with me????

Anyone.......hello?......Bueller?

I like the optimism involved in this. I have a few completed short stories and a few stories that need to be revised.

I am aiming for 12 rejections, so let's say 6 acceptances. Wait a minute, 6 is too much I think. Ok, lets make it 3 then.

Yes, I am in and I aim for 3 acceptances.

All the best,
Sanyuja

Good idea! I'm in. I'm gonna keep my number a bit lower than my rejection pledge on this one, though. I'll go with five.

Ok, I'm joining in and I'll be VERY ambitious. One of my writing goals this year is to get 100 acceptances, so why not keep track of them here? I already have 9 and it's only January, so I figured I may just make it. Wish me luck!

Wow, you all are brave. I'm going with 2. Either it will be 2 or 0, I suspect. So 2 it is.

I'll join in

While I like the idea of an acceptance pledge - you're right -you can't get accepted if you don't submit. Last year I managed 75 submissions of difeerent poems and short stories - this year the goal is 100 submissions:

To date I have 6 submissions with 2 rejections and 1 acceptance. Everything will stay in circulation somewhere unless it is accepted some where. There are still 14 submissions outstanding from last year.

From the stories that were still outstanding from last year I have had 1 acceptance.

Here's hoping for a great year. 2 / 2 / (6)

I too like the idea of an acceptance goal or pledge, much more positive. I don't really like to limit the number of acceptances, but I'd like to sell at least 10 short stories this year. Of course first I need to write them!

I love this idea, Chris

It suits my obnoxiously positive attitude What can I say, I'm old enough to have worn out my pessimistic attitude--it just didn't work for me anyway.

I have a total of 18 short stories, poems and or novel excerpts submitted already just since the first of the year. So, I'm going to aim high on the acceptance number, knowing the items submitted will continue to grow in the next few months. I'm going for 9 out of 18--hey, I said I had "attitude". . besides, if I don't have faith in myself, who will

I took the the 2006 Acceptance pledge!

This is more my kind of thread. I'm in, and I up you 20 million.

My swim coach taught me "if your friends don't laugh at your goals you are not aiming high enough."

My goal is not just acceptance but 20 million copies sold!! It was originally just two million copies sold but no one did the double take "wow" the 20 million goal attracts. So 20 million copies SOLD (not printed - sold) is the goal.

If you aim at nothing you will hit it.

All in almost ready to go stages. 2 non-fiction articles in note taking stage. May write a couple more shorties later in the year. Totals up to at least 7 pieces of work ...

Rejection Pledge: 0/22 (2 x 11 more months)

I tried to find some clarafication on this so can someone help me? What do you consider an acceptance? Does it have to be paid work or in print? I freelance for a gaming website where they've published articles, reviews and short fiction for me. I've got more in the works, as well as a horror novel stinking up an editor's desk. Can someone clear this up?

Okay. If I get two things published in bona-fide well-regarded markets this year I'll be happy -- hell, I'll be happy with one, but two is better.

Signature updated accordingly.

Talking I'm in!

I needed this push. I have only been a freelancer for a month. I need this sort of goal for the year. Three has always been my lucky number, so I am going to shoot for three publications this year. If luck and talent are with me, maybe 33 will be the actual number.

Put me down for TWO

It's early in the year. I have a few children's stories awaiting word and I just sent some poetry to a children's publisher in the States. I am working on another draft of my ms, but it's feasible I can send my synopsis and 2 or 3 polished chapters to a publisher by the end of winter...assuming winter WILL end.

Thanks for the kick in the butt, Chris!

I'll go for 30.

I'll take short stories, poems, articles, anything to do with the novel & songs accepted by rock'n'roll bands etc. into the account too. (Hope that's okay?)
