Now here I was thinking head cheese was something truly vile, and it turns out, it's just brawn. Brawn's nice, with some crusty bread and a bit of pickle.

My grandmother was French, so she just called it "fromage de tête" when she gave it to me. I was young, so I ate it happily. My brother eventually told me "Do you know what that is?!" In later years, I figured "What the heck" and tried some again. It wasn't bad...
