Hello, all! I'm Anne, and...I'm new here! Any pointers in the right direction or hints on navigating the forums are totally welcome.

A little about me: my writing niche is focused on stories that are a little sad and a little scary. My current project is a 82k YA dark fantasy about murderous angels. I'll be shopping the first book around soon...once I've got a decent query letter. I'm quite terrible at them, but hopefully I'll get whipped into shape here on the forums and make a few friends :)

Welcome. We're all terrible at query letters at first. You'll get better after a few rounds in Query Letter Hell.

Thanks, all :) Sort of suprised by the warm welcome--you guys are a lot friendlier than other forums I've been on!

Haha...I'm excited and filled with dread at the prospect of getting my query hacked to ribbons. But it's all for the greater good :D Thanks again for stopping by to say hi to a newbie.

Yay, good luck Anne. I think some of the best querying resources online are here in this place! Ask the Agent and Successful Queries (for examples) might give you a boost! And I feel ya there--querying is not an easy thing to jump into. But you can always view it as an adventure, fraught with peril and danger around every corner! With a treasure waiting for you at the end!

Or something. ;)

Writing a query = getting to the end of disc three. I'm down with that. Perhaps this'll be easier if I view it as a succession of boss battles... :D

Thanks for the tips :)
