I don't see a thread about it, but then there's that May 23rd thing, and also the emails appear to have just gone out last night, which is about when I got home from the airport and collapsed in bed. And slept until about noon today. Which is why I didn't check email until just now...

I'm going to Viable Paradise this year! *squeeeee*

And it looks like I'm not the only AW'er going! *happy dance*

Congrats to everyone who's going!

Congratulations, Nicole! That means you probably get to meet Uncle Jim and TNH and PNH in person.

*lucky*

(I do plan on applying for Alpha in high school. They've had several success stories with the teens who went through the workshop.)

I thought I'd have calmed down by today, but I'm still too excited to do anything very sensible.

Yes, I'm in, and still wondering if I'm awake...

I'm so looking forward to meeting you guys :Hug2:

Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, peeps....

When you get back, I want MAJOR details. Down to the tiniest speck of dust. I had REALLY thought about applying, but this year I can't afford the transportation and lodging. Maybe next year. :)

There's a cove near where y'all are staying where you can see flocks of jelly fish and, if you're lucky, St. Elmo's fire, and there are two beaches where you can pick up intact sand dollars, at low tide. (Throw the live ones back, m'kay?)

Congratulations! I attended last year, and will be playing Support Spouse this year. (My husband was Support Spouse last year, saw how much fun I was having, and applied. I promised him that if he got in, I'd return the favor.) So I'll see you there!

If anybody has any questions, I'll be happy to try to answer.

Wah! I didn't realize this thread was here.

Nice to see you all, however belatedly. And it'll be nicer in October! :)

I didn't know this was here, either. Hi!
Less than two months to go - I'm having a hard time believing it's really going to happen.
Hey, just curious - what kind of story did you all submit? I sent two chapters and synopsis of a fantasy, fairy-tale retelling. I was really unsure whether to send that or the 1600s vampire story - but that's written in my approximation of Stuart English, so you're probably grateful I chose as I did.
And who has work up presently?

I sent the first 8K words or so of the novel I've got stuck in a drawer to, errrr, ripen. I had a short story to send, but then I accidentally sold it.

It just kind of snuck away from you, ran up to a publisher and tugged on his sleeve? I want my stories to do that.

Bring your swimsuits if you like to swim and get a chance. The water will still be really warm!

Good Word's right; and I know it seems weird, but because of the Gulf stream, it's way warmer than the Pacific.

I'm like that for SCA events, because I've done it so often I've got the checklist in my head and quite mechanical. Except for the time I didn't pack my shoes, leaving me a perfect 14th c. middle-class married woman, but barefoot.
Right now I can't settle to anything. If I had to pack now, I'd wander around the house clutching selections of unmatched socks.

Keep in mind that there's a constant island breeze, so think layers. Bring a long sleeve sweater, and either a denim jacket or a wind breaker. Something for rain. Shoes that can get wet. Do bring at least one pair of shorts because you may very well get temperatures in the mid seventies, easily. The island water is not so hot; if you like Good Coffee, get some bottled water after you arrive. If you liked good bars, there's one there; you can actually sit and write. (My dad wrote more than one sermon there :D).
